  1. >> You could read all the blogs, magazines, tv shows in the world, but until you actually care enough to DO SOMETHING about it you won’t get far.

This, my dear J. Money, is why you are awesome. You sum it up nicely in that one sentence. Stop dreaming. Start DOING.

That is awesome. Inspiring. I love Debt Free Fridays!

    • Me too Julie and Mikki! Debt Free fridays burned on CD from The Dave Ramsey Show kept me motivated on some pretty tough days! :) I have tons more to share with you from the overwhelming response I have had so far. I have at least 5 more ready to go live! :D

  3. OK. So I am now at the point where it looks like only option out is Chapter 13. My income is too high for Chapter 7, and a Debt Management Plan doesn’t help at all – I have been to the counselor. Am I a creep for wanting to do this? I am 52, I have a credit score of 730, and have NEVER been late on payments or missed payments. Through a series of events with my kids I have racked up tons of legal bills and other expenses trying to get them turned around. They are now turned around, and I can no longer keep up with payments. Thoughts?

  4. Congratulations on being debt-free to both Brad and J. I plan to join you by New Years 2012.

  5. Debt free Fridays are great, way to go J money! so Inspirational!

  6. “It seems a lot of people have bought into the idea that debt is essential in order to prosper, what do you have to say to those people?”

This idea was pushed by big business, in particular banks, and is still part of common marketing. It was the idea that consumer spending is a product all in itself and the money off of interest was the goal. It was unsustainable of course, but the sales pitch was pretty magical and many of us got caught in the net. And it was like gambling because the victims (and I use that term loosely) kept trying to make another deal to “win” their money back, but just like in Vegas, they fell deeper into debt instead.

  7. Thanks guys! These questions were fun :) Brad is rockin’ this stuff!!!

  8. @Arlin Hall – I would highly recommend seeking out a professional financial planner :) They could tell you in detail why one way would be better than the next, and what your pros and cons are. You’re dealing with some serious stuff, and paying a little more to get it all cleared up the right way is totally worth it.

  9. Ted

Oh, how I want to buy a house with the 100% down payment plan.

Great interview. Thanks for the inspiring post.

    • No problem Ted, and I want you to buy a house using the 100% cash down plan too. I am going to be the example of how to do this here on EOD. Got to get to that point in my plan though, but it WILL happen! Stay tuned my friend! :)

I just came across your site from Deliver Away Debt. I like this feature, where your debt-free readers answers some questions. I will have to participate myself someday but I am not entirely debt-free yet. I do have to agree with J. Money on one point. Stop shopping.

Buy only what you need. Plenty of time to spoil yourself later in life.

  11. This is going to be my year to be debt free! All we have left is a car loan with like $4k on it. That bad boy is GONE this year!

  12. Great bond you guys have out there you two! Reminds us how great the internet is, bringing folks together.

    Good job guys!
