  1. That was NOT funny. FYI, if you ever do choose to “sell out” call me first. I think I’d like to start a Destorying Debt Empire of Blogs :-)

  2. Dude… you totally got me. Welcome back.

  3. LOL. You totally got me too! Hey Jeff, love the idea. Which reminds me that I need to get that 125 sq. Badge.

Brad, good for you for examining what your life and doing what works for you. We’ll all still be here (of course!)

    • According to urlappraisal dot net EOD is worth $43,450.99 I’m not sure I can come up with that much dough. I checked you out too Funk and MoneyFunk is worth $55,600 while little old deliverawaydebt is $3,151 :-)

      • $43,000??? Holy crap dude!! Where do you find something like that out at? LOL Still not enough for me to sell but it does make me want to start another finance blog, build it up, and sell it. LOL I just can’t part with my creation. The graphics, logo, material and everything. It’s like a child of mine. :)

        Christine is rocking it!! ;)

    • Sometimes life throws us curve balls and sometimes what we’re missing out on isn’t even hard to miss. for me it was a little of both. My wife has enjoyed having more of my time, as have I giving it to her. :)

  4. My heart stopped when I saw this headline on Twitter. I’m feeling much better now!

I’m glad I helped you take a fresh look at your priorities. I have to stop and do that myself a lot more than you’d imagine. Your family and your health are WAY more important than EOD, but I love this site and would have cried a little if you really were walking away from it.

Personally, I much prefer blogs that are updated 1-2 times per week with great posts as opposed to those that are updated 3-5 times with mediocre content. I find it hard to keep up with the reading and I usually just don’t. I have personally started posting around twice per week at Engaged Marriage and sometimes one of those is a guest post. This gives me the time to work on other projects, create killer content exclusively for my newsletter subscribers, do guest posts and just relax on occasion.

My favorite content is your personal stories of financial conquest and failure, and I also enjoy case studies of others. Not necessarily a Q&A format, but interesting stories of how others are achieving financial success. Also, I like practical tips on how to save more money and generate extra income. Those kinds of stories and tips keep me fired up and moving forward with our plan!

Keep up the great work here and, especially, at home buddy! :)

    • Dude I would have hated to make you cry a little, but I am deeply touched that you feel that way my friend! Come on now, you KNOW we would have discussed it first if it were true though. You and J Money are always the first to know these things. LOL

I really like the 1-2 posts a week prospect. It really relieves some pressure. :) Asalways thanks for the support good buddy!

  5. Here, here Brad!

I came over from Twitter too, and was in total denial. Like, Brad, sell EOD? OMG NEVER EVER. NOT IN A BAJILLION YEARS. (pardon the caps)

I agree that too much of a good thing, even if it’s selflessly trying to improve the lives of others, can leave one bereft. Like I tell my dad, it’s not worth wearing so many hats, if it runs you into an early grave.

Do keep going forward on your decimation of fat my friend!

    Blessings,
    Chris

    • Your instincts were right Chris!! LOL

It would seriously take a lot for me to part with my baby!

Working really hard to destroy the fat the way I destroyed my debt! ;)

  6. I didn’t even know you could sell a blog! I have to get busy…

I can see what you mean about the time factor. Blogging is a time eater. Not only are you writing for your blog, but you’re also marketing it and taking care of technical crap. Time has a way of getting away from you when you’re juggling it all, plus work and the rest of your life.

    • LOL Kevin!! Yeah man, it’s actually a seemingly good way to make some money. I know a few bloggers that have benefited from buying blogs.

You are oh so right about the “technical crap”. LOL I know I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out code and setting up EOD the way I like it. No matter how good I make something I always feel like I could make EOD better. :)

  7. I like the way your mission and enthusiasm for EOD comes through in your blog. This is the reason why I enjoy reading it. A reader can tell that you want to do the right thing by your readers who may struggle with debt.

I think publishing a series or two is a good idea. Maybe a series allows you to engage your readers to contribute more content to the blog itself in addition to comments.

Keep up the good work with your blogs, with the weight loss, and most importantly with your family!

    • Thank you very much ctreit!! Your feedback is very valuable to me man! I’ve been wanting to pump out a few e-books but never seem to find the time. LOL

I’ve got a lot of thinking to do about how I want to proceed with EOD. It’s time for an EOD evolution though for sure.

  8. Patti

I am so glad that was only the headline! I’m happy that you’re sticking around since you provide great insight on disciplined debt-free lifestyle (this is what I struggle with the most). But I’m also glad that you value your family life, marriage and overall balance enough that you know when to say when. While I do not keep a blog (Can you imagine another PF blog?!) I agree with Dustin that I prefer blogs updated 1-2x a week with good substance.

I love personal experiences – yours and guest bloggers. Keep up the great work – P.S. I’m also following your enemy of fat blog and I love it. :)

    • That’s exactly what I needed to hear Patti, THANK YOU!! I value my readers a lot, but I don’t think anyone would fault me for valuing my family and other personal commitments more. Hopefully I can get better at managing my time so that I can do a little of everything.

Thanks for your feedback and thank you for following my journey on the weight loss blog. I definitely need some support over there. Losing weight as probably been one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, judging by the number of times I have failed attempting it. :) I’m gonna beat it though and NOW is the time to grab the bull by the horns! :D

  9. Man…..I applaud you for re-examining and putting your focus on what matters.

This post and your honesty really helped me today.

I’m going to try to take your words to heart.

    • Thank you for the support Neal! It has really helped me reduce some stress, because blogging is stressful when you add the pressures of trying to satisfy your audience and wondering if you are doing so keeps me on edge at times. I just don’t want o let down the 700+ readers that have subscribed to hear what I have to say.

I really appreciate your kind words man, thank you!

  10. Phew, thank goodness you’re not selling! haha.. Of course, if you did I wouldn’t begrudge you that! It would just be hard to see you go.

Now that we’re all relieved that you’re not leaving, let’s see..

I would like to read more: personal stories about your own situation and struggles… more how to posts.

    Glad you’re clarifying your priorities!

  11. Donna

Glad to hear you are around to stay. I would like as Peter stated, more personal stories from you and maybe readers too. Taking a step back is good. I have done something similar and deleted some stupid links (not yours of course) and blogs that I really was not interested in for the long run. My time is too valuable. Keep up the good work, in whatever form it takes. :-)

    • Donna, I love having you around so thanks for not deleting “my link” from your life. :) Time is definitely a valuable piece of real estate.

      Thanks for the feedback! :)

  12. People really need to use sike more.

I don’t know if you’re a big reader or not, but I’d suggest diving into some different money topic books to get the creative juices flowing. That’s my biggest regret about Japan is the lack of books. Read your heart out and you may find some new motivation.

Glad you’re sticking around, my friend.

    Austin @ Foreigner’s Finances

    • Hey thanks a lot Austin!! Yeah I really need to make more time to read for sure. I have a dozen or so books that have been sent to me that I need to finish reading or start. Maybe now I can fit some of them in. :) I didn’t realize Japan had a shortage of books. That is very interesting, AND unfortunate. :)

  13. I was already preparing my check!
    darn….

  14. Ha ha! Good one, Brad. Now what are you going to do for an encore? :-)

    Best,

  15. Hi Brad – Glad you’ve re-charged!

I’d love to read some personal stories about your latest thoughts on quitting pizza delivery, and the path you’ve taken to pursue an online income full-time. Is it easier, or harder than you expected, what are some of the things you’d do differently etc.

Also, any tips on avoiding burnout for other bloggers?

    Thanks!

    Sam

    • Hey Sam, thank for stopping by man.

I will definitely throw out some posts about me quitting my pizza job! I didn’t really quit it to pursue an online income though, but I am not denying that being a nice prospect. I really did it because it made more sense for our family with the new arrival of Noah. My wife has a great job as a Nurse so it really made no sense for her to quit and stay at home. I am also trying to work on school and becoming a certified counselor but those are both long term goals. I want to start my own business in the not too distant future. :)

  16. * What you want to read about? How to get out of debt and stay out
    * What you struggle with the most financially? Impulse buying
    * What would you like to see different? Nothing. Just keep writing.
    * How can I improve your experience? LOL, take off your shirt?
    * What you love about Enemy of Debt? The personal straightforwardness. If that’s a word
    * What you hate about Enemy of Debt? Sometimes a bit wordy.
    * Anything you can give me that will help me make Enemy of Debt the go-to place to get out of debt, I want to hear it. Just keep on doing what you have been doing.
    * DON’T HOLD BACK!! OK here it is — it’s not SIKE, it’s PSYCHE!

LOL. You are doing a great job. Set a timer for your blog, write it out in your mind first and don’t spend lots of time on the computer. Check your email less per day and try to reconcile yourself to the fact that — well, we need you.

And keep your shirt on, LOL. Just kidding about that one.

    • LOL about the shirt comment. Let me lose some weight first though. ;) LOL I’m working on it.

Yeah, I know I used the slang version of the word. It fit better in that font size plus I realized that most people would recognize the slang version right away. That’s the way I am more used to seeing it too. I’m not sure I have ever actually seen anyone use the real word. LOL

Thanks for keeping me on my toes, and thanks a billion for the great feedback!! :)

  17. Wow! I was bracing up for a big bombshell, but I’m glad it was a false alarm. Don’t cry wolf like that anymore! :)

I totally hear ya on the burning out and getting busy with other things. One thing I’ve been convicted on lately too is how much time and energy I spend on this and making sure I’m not getting addicted to it! It can definitely eat up a lot of quality time. I love writing and blogging, but it’s near impossible to fit my financial planning business, home life, ministry, relaxation, reading and then blogging all into a week!

A good recharge is always a great thing!

    Keep up the great work!!
