I Love You Like a Blogger Roundup – 2/7

I didn’t love anyone like a blogger last week.  Instead I announced that Vonnie and I had made our final payment to our debt management program, which is GREAT news, but it has me itching for some fist pumping action.

In other news, you’ll notice my emergency fund section has disappeared.  The reason is we utilized all the resources we had to knock off that credit card debt early.  But not to worry, in one week our emergency fund will be at the desired $1000.  Our first payment on our newly refinanced mortgage isn’t due until March 1st, but our old mortgage payment usually came out of our middle of the month funds.  That means we don’t have a mortgage payment in February to make either, giving us the ability to fulfill the $1000 emergency fund goal completely on February 15.  With that statement, that section of this weekly blogger love fest has come to a conclusion.

From a weight loss standpoint….ugh don’t get me started.  Remember that great weight loss I reported a few weeks ago? Vonnie got on the Wii Fit and it told her she lost 13 pounds.  We started to wonder if something was off kilter a bit. Upon investigation we noticed one of the plastic feet of the Wii Fit board had fallen off.  Since I didn’t notice until well after I published, there was no taking it back.   So, a more accurate weight is listed below, and I’m not happy. I have what I believe is a great plan to lose weight….if only I could stick to it. I’m having major issues not cheating.  All I can do is keep trying – so I’m wiping the slate clean, and starting fresh as of TODAY.   Your support would be appreciated – even if it’s a comment saying, “Hey stop shoving crap in your pie hole already!”

And with that, let’s get our fists pumping, after all, it’s been two weeks since our last pump:

  1. Darn that broken Wii leg! Have you tried using MyFitnessPal? It makes tracking calories and exercise pretty easy. My friend started a Fit for Fourteen group and put people into groups for support. It’s been great so far! Just have to stick with it!

  2. I feel like I’ve been eating too much sugar and carbs and my BP had risen more than I’d like. I’m fighting taking medication tooth and nails!! I just don’t want to. I think my worst time is between 3-7 so I need to find something else to do so I’m not snacking big time during that window. I don’t know why I always feel so hungry then, despite eating a healthy snack. Hope you find something that works for you!

Even though carbs are a distance runner’s friend, I can understand what you mean, Tonya….when I eat too many I feel like a rock is sitting in my stomach. Sugar just makes me feel like crap. My problem is that once I start, I can’t stop. I’ll be doing fine, then I’ll have just a “little” bit of something, and next thing I know I’m standing at the kitchen counter figuring out what the next thing is I’m gonna shovel in! I just can’t break the seal! 🙂

  3. I need to get back on track with my eating as well. Seems since Thanksgiving I’ve been on track, off track every other week.

I know how frustrating that is, Brian….you do well for a week, and then completely undo everything. We have to find some consistency, right?

  4. Hi Travis — thank you very much for including our post on your list! It’s a real honor to be included 🙂

I’m also struggling with exercise and weight loss right now; I just can’t get motivated to walk during the day like I had for the past 1.5 years (I bought a Fitbit and averaged 10,000 steps a day for that time), but now I’m trying to at least run the stairs at the office for 5 solid minutes each day. It doesn’t sound like much, but I’m exhausted at the end and it feels great! Hoping that spurs me on for more…

You’re very welcome, Brad! You have to start somewhere…the stairs is a great place to start…then you just have to keep ramping up the duration! thanks for stopping by!

  5. I feel like I work out quite a bit, but I fall off the wagon when it comes to eating right. There’s too many things I indulge in. Definitely something I could improve on this year. Best of luck in your weight loss journey!

Thanks, DC….if only I could make myself sit down and eat something of significance when I decide to eat. Too many times I just start grabbing a little of this, and a little of that and by the time I’m done I’ve eaten so much my stomach hurts! Thanks for the encouragement!
