Where I was.

Ever since turning 18 and becoming responsible for taking care of myself, I have lived paycheck to paycheck. The scariest part about this statement is that it is true for most of us. Seventy percent of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. I have finally decided that enough is enough!! As Dave Ramsey would say, I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. Brad Chaffee is sick of working for his money, so now it is time to learn how to make his money work for him!

Where I am.

As it stands, I am currently working on a Total Money Makeover which has changed my life. My family is now headed in a direction that will prepare us to retire with dignity, not to mention enable us to GIVE like NEVER before. We have experienced something called hope! We thank Dave Ramsey for this new hope. We now have savings, a plan, and motivated direction. We are currently on what Dave calls Baby Step 2, which is paying down our debt by using the Debt Snowball. We have NO CREDIT CARDS, NO CAR LOANS, and are working on eliminating the very last debt, which is a STUDENT LOAN. We have realized that by avoiding these three things, we will be able to use our income to build wealth, save, and GIVE. We will be debt free but the house by summers end. (2008)

Where I am going.

I created Enemy of Debt because of a deep passion and desire to help people avoid debt. I want to teach people why debt is not the answer, and how they can experience the hope that has transformed my life completely. With that said, I have decided that becoming a Financial Counselor is perfect for me. I am working on becoming Certified and have set a goal to do so by the end of 2008. In the meantime, I am getting ready to start coordinating Financial Peace University classes at my church. My goal is to help people become debt free, counsel my church community for free, and build a successful Financial Counseling practice for everyone else. I would like to focus my attention on teens and college students. I believe that by helping people avoid the stress of debt at it’s beginning stages, I can help them lead happy and productive lives. When you aren’t a slave to the lender you can accomplish so much more for yourself and your family. Financial Peace is for EVERYONE!

Is Brad Chaffee an expert?

Brad Chaffee is NOT an expert! Any advice given by me is simply an opinion based on experience and self education. You should seek the services of a professional for what you should do for your specific situation. My goal is to become an expert as I read and learn everything I can in the field of Personal Finance. By doing so I hope to one day give expert advice and opinions on Enemy of Debt.
