Financial Literacy Month – Kids and Money

Hi everyone! I hope you’re having an awesome week so far. Today I’d like to share a video with you that I think you’ll love. Last year I participated in Financial Literacy Month with Steve from MoneyPlanSOS. The idea was to create a one minute video to promote financial literacy. It was fun and one of the videos I made featuring my son (4 years old at the  time), was picked up by CBS Money Watch. I received a lot of great emails from that video so I thought I would do something with Isaac again this year. This year […] Read more »

Increase Your Personal Savings and Live the Life You Want

Do you have trouble saving money? Take one look at the savings rate in America and you’ll realize you’re not alone. It goes up and down but before the gloomy recession savings rates were as low as -2%. You read that right. Americans had a negative savings rate! It’s gone up a little bit since then but there is still much room for improvement. Clearly Americans have trouble saving money but imagine if there was something that encouraged you to pay yourself first each and every month. Instead of running out of money at the end of the month to […] Read more »

The Worst Day of my Entire Life

As I sat on the park bench watching other families laugh and play, I couldn’t help but feel resentment. That was supposed to be me and my family, but recent events would clearly make that impossible. How could my wife do this to me? What did she do? Only the worst thing a wife could do to her passionate husband dedicated to ridding the world of debt that’s all. I checked the mail and found out that my wife racked up almost $2,000 on a credit card she had been hiding from me for over a year. Imagine the look on my face – THE Enemy of Debt – as I peeled open the envelope to reveal such news. We’ve been through so much together financially and I thought we were on the same team. It was only four years ago that we pledged to eradicate our debt together once and for all. At that time we were like everyone else -- broke, living paycheck to paycheck, and seriously on edge about our finances. Read more »

My Interview with Perkstreet Financial CEO Dan O’Malley

Today I wanted to share with you a very special interview with Dan O’Malley, the CEO of Perkstreet Financial. As most of you know, I write for the Perkstreet blog, but am also a very happy customer. I’ve never before experienced such wonderful customer service and support  from a bank ever before and the perks we receive from everyday purchases on our debit card are an extra plus. I’ve banked with Suntrust, Bank of America, among other financial institutions and believe I have finally found the bank that not only says they care about my future, but proves it. I […] Read more »

He was sooo awesome too, as I’m sure you’ll agree! 🙂 Here’s a link to my first video question in case you missed it. Let the conversation begin. I would like to encourage all of you to take a second to […] Read more »

ONLY SERIOUS people need apply! I am wanting to officially launch this by the end of February or March at the latest. Nine or ten months of […] Read more »

Shred Your Credit Card…Fa la la la la, la la la la!

What is in the air this holiday season? I am feeling especially festive right now so I decided to break the news in a little song. haha! Maybe I had way too much fun coming up with ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas! Then again, I could have had too much eggnog, but who cares. The important thing is that I’m sharing it with you. 😉 I was recently asked to be a part of something I couldn’t say no to. Actually it was more like I injured myself just trying to respond. Okay, I didn’t really injure myself but I […] Read more »

Bloggers: The Frugal Premium WordPress Theme is 30% Off!

For some, this review won’t mean much, but to those of you who operate a blog, this premium WordPress theme is absolutely awesome. Not only is it the most comprehensive, user-friendly theme for WordPress I have found, it was developed by Eric Hamm of Charlottesville. (where I live) Anyone familiar with WordPress, knows that the theme you choose is absolutely key. Some themes do this, some themes do that, and if you want them to do anything special you have to know css and php code, and where to insert it to make it happen. Learning code is the equivalent […] Read more »

A Blogger’s Dream to Help Others is Coming True

Howdy folks! Welcome to day two of my No Restaurants in November Challenge! (Have you taken the plunge yet? Join me and many others!) One of the many reasons there could be for wanting to save a little money — the topic for today’s post is definitely one of them. Giving….. Do you do enough of it? We don’t. Don’t misunderstand. We do give, but it’s not nearly as much as we want to give. When I think of all the orphans, widow’s, single mothers and the poor and unfortunate others out there, I know that what I do is […] Read more »

Introducing EOD Basic 3.0: Made for Newbies, but Perfect for Everyone

The day has finally come! HERE–> EOD Basic 3.0 is RIGHT HERE!! <–HERE This one is lighter than the deluxe version (still to come), so I called it EOD Basic. I created it with newbies in mind with a step-by-step process to help you from beginning to end. I am confident that you will love this version. With 2.0, the first reaction I usually got when showing it was: “ohhhh…ummm…yeeaaahhh, where…do…I…begin? In their very best Bill Lumberg impression. 2.0 was great and certainly comprehensive enough for the nerd balls like myself, but I have to admit at first glance, it […] Read more »
