I Love You Like A Blogger Roundup – 04/25

I have two coworkers that flew all the way from India to work side by side with us here in Minnesota for the next few weeks.  I’m certainly excited for them to be here, however I need to be just a little mindful of how often I go out for lunches.  They will need guidance as to where might be good places to go as they are vegetarian and they are in an unfamiliar country.  On the other hand, I’m used to bringing my own lunch, and I don’t want to break my budget either.

You’ve waited long enough for today, let’s get to fist pumpin’.

  1. As a vegetarian who has spent a lot of time in veggie unfriendly places on tour, I recommend checking yelp for veggie recommendations. The most options are typically at ethnic restaurants like Thai or Indian (obviously). I’ve also learned how to turn side dishes into meals.

Back in my startup days we flew out a guy from india too to learn hands-on with us and it was pretty fun. Also, very eye-opening. I took him to Subway for his first meal and when it was his turn to order he just politely said “no thanks” and waited for me outside. I didn’t know what was wrong, so when I asked him he said $5.00 was just way too much than he could stomach! He told me it’s like $50.00 in his country! Needless to say we didn’t go back there 😉 Or, to any places for that matter, haha… If I recall correctly he made his food at his temporary home and brought to work – though wouldn’t all those ingredients also be way more expensive than what he was used to? Interesting experience nonetheless – it’s def. stuck with me all these years 🙂

    • Wow. That totally makes sense. I bet seeing that really put things in perspective

When I went to India about 18 months ago, I remember going to their food court and getting lunch for the equivalent of about 60 cents. But then again….there were other restaurants that were much more expensive too.

They are doing some cooking in their hotel suite, but they are showing a desire to try our food. But then again, they’re also given a daily allowance for food too, so it’s not their money being spent.

  3. I’ve had some friends in town a lot lately and it’s hard to find ways to spend time with them and not break the budget. It’s hard to tell them that going out to eat with me is not an option and they can have dinner at my house…because they want to go out and rightfully so. It’s a balancing act. Isn’t everything? 🙂 Thanks so much for the mention!

My biggest conflict is staying at work to make the most of the time they’re here…or continue with my usual routine of going to the gym mid-morning. UGH, need my #pfworkout!!! 🙂

  4. Glad that our article made your fist pump! Good luck with the training. I love having other people around as they teach me so many things that I haven’t experienced before.

Our first week was a great success….they had a great foundation, so expanding upon that is sooo much easier in person! Thanks for your comment, Grayson!

  5. I cut out meat from my diet over the last couple months and discovered a whole new world of recipes and restaurants for it. I’m sure they’ll be fine 🙂

We haven’t had a problem finding places…turns out many of the places we usually go for lunch have vegetarian options. Thanks for your thoughts, Mario!

  6. Lots of great resources here! I’m looking forward to checking them out. On a side note, I love your title to your favorite posts. Fist pumping posts are always worth reading!
