I Love You Like a Blogger Roundup – 11/28

Walmart-FamilyMobile-Marathon

I’m breathing a sigh of relief today, my friends.  In preparation for Thanksgiving at my mother-in-law’s house I spent all day Wednesday smoking a brisket, and got up crazy early yesterday morning to smoke a ham.  I got a great night’s sleep last night though.

I hadn’t planned on going Black Friday shopping, but just for fun I looked through all the ads looking for anything that I was in the market to buy.  I found nothing.  The big goose egg.  Nada.  I woke up this morning refreshed and ready to take the rest of the weekend to recharge the batteries and get ready for the next week.

Oh, but that doesn’t mean I can’t fist pump……

  2. Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving Travis! I vegged out all day and slept for 9 hours last night solid. Glorious! Thanks so much for the link love!!

Sounds delicious Travis! We went to our friends’ last night and had a wonderful time munching on a smoked pork butt and duck – so perfect 🙂

We did the same things as you – checked out to see if any sales were out there for things we were already planning to pick up. Didn’t find anything when I searched online, so I’m just relaxing and enjoying the family time.

Thanks for sharing my post; hope you have a wonderful rest of the week.

  4. Sounds like a great meal. We had a brined turkey. We did the same as far as shopping. Based on some of the news stories and the craziness I’m glad I stayed home. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

I’ve always wanted to brine a turkey……although I have pretty good luck at keeping it moist without it. Great to hear from you Brian, hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

  5. Sounds like you had quite the yummy Thanksgiving meal, Travis! Thank you for mentioning my post over at Young Adult Money. In light of that, I didn’t find anything worth buying this weekend, either. Too many “deals” were on lower-quality items.

    • Travis says:

That’s the thing, Erin – so many of the “deals” are inferior products. I was walking through Walmart just yesterday and saw a pallet of BlueRay players on sale for $35. I’m guessing they were left over from Black Friday and they didn’t sell as many as they thought they would. How good of a player could it really be for $35??

  6. I checked out the ads too, but came up empty. It seems like there aren’t very many deals this year. In fact, it seems to flip every year. Last year, I found tons of stuff. The year before that, nothing. Here’s to hoping next year is a good year for the deals!

It wouldn’t surprise me if things are cyclical. But maybe it just seems that way because your needs are different from year to year? We’ll see! Thanks for your comment!

  7. Glad to hear you had a good weekend! We did go to Best Buy, Target, and Old Navy. best Buy had a soundbar I planned on getting anyway (NEARLY bought it 2 weeks ago for $100 more than I got it on Black Friday). Anyway hope you have a great week!

    • Travis says:

Now, THAT’s a good sale, DC….something you were looking to buy anyway, and you saved $100 – you, sir, have won the internet today. 🙂 Thanks for dropping by!
