Happy New Year, EOD Nation! Today is back to reality day. The holidays that consume the second half of December are over, and while I and the kids are still on vacation today, the wheels of routine begin to turn. We will begin to tackle the mountain of laundry that has accumulated, a grocery shopping trip is in the works, and a full blow budget marathon is on tap. The checkbook needs reconciling, bills need to be paid, and a course needs to be set for 2015. I feel the winds of normalcy beginning to blow, and that it itself is worth a fist pump!

Every year on New Year’s day we do a financial marathon of planning and purging. We pull out all the paid invoices, file ones needed for taxes with the tax info and throw out all the rest. Do we really need a year’s worth of phone bill statements? We re-jigger our budget based on last years tracked spending and with consideration of what our COLA will add to the pension income. And we finalize our brokerage accounts, adding up the dividends and interest earned and figuring our net worth increase based on account values. Last year was very very good financially. Now if I can just get back on track with weight loss….
Sounds like a great way to start out the new year, Kathy! If you can do it with your finances, you can do it with weight loss too – same skills, just applied differently. Go get it!
Good luck on your journey in 2015 my friend! I know you’ll kill it! And thanks so much for the link love! Also keep posting those motivational videos. Love em!

Thanks for mentioning my WKW post, Travis!! Funny how winter break ends up being so much work, isn’t it? 🙂 The thought of catching up on our own mounds of laundry and taking the Christmas stuff down is overwhelming me already, and I haven’t even started. 🙂
Exactly, Laurie…I need a vacation from my vacation. LOL. Happy New Year!
I’m with you – a ton of stuff to do on top of the normal routine of grocery shopping and laundry. I enjoy sitting down and reviewing our finances for the past year, setting up goals for the new year and just making it a point to improve myself overall.
The best way to improve the future is by reviewing past mistakes and successes, right Jon? Hope your 2015 is off to a great start!
