I Love You Like A Blogger Roundup – 3/27

fistpumpI was taking a final look at my tax return before I sealed the manilla envelope and put it in our fireproof filing cabinet.  I couldn’t help but notice how much I earned last year with my blogging and online adventures.  I earned more as a part-time freelance writer in 2014 than any previous year.   There are limitless ways that a person can make some extra money – in fact our friends over at The Penny Hoarder recently compiled quite a list of side hustles that could fit nicely with any lifestyle.  Substantial income increases at my primary job have been small, and far in between over the last few years given the economy, so I’ve made my own salary increase.  It’s become quite a sizable chunk of our overall household income, and that’s definitely worth a fist pump!

  1. Thanks for the mention, Travis!! I hear you on the side hustle stuff – it’s so cool for me as a stay-at-home homeschooling mom to be able to bring in some serious income for the family and still be at home with the kids. Side hustles rock! Have a great weekend, Travis! 🙂

Working for yourself, and at home has some serious benefits – flexibility of hours is one of the best! Thanks for your comment, Laurie!

  2. Well done with the income increase! That’s a nice realization 🙂

  3. Congrats on the ever increasing side hustle! Have a great weekend!

Thanks Brian! Even though I lost one of my highest paying clients towards the end of 2014, I’m hoping to continue to make my side income grow in 2015!

  4. Way to go on the blogging income! Last year I earned about $11,000 from blogging and an extra $5,000 in products from companies. I also had a main day job then. I got let go in January and am now riding solo with the blog, and it’s been amazing! I’m planning to double that income. It’s exciting generating money for yourself, isn’t it?!

Whoohoo, Serena! I had seen you became a full time blogging last year, and I just know you’re going to really come into your own this year – excited to follow along with your progress!

  5. Thanks for the Fruclassity mention, Travis. And congrats on your best side-hustle year yet!

  6. While my side income is decent, I am starting to come to terms with the fact that my full-time income will likely always be the big moneymaker for me. With that being said, I can’t express how great it has been having that side hustle money. It is essentially “bonus” money that can be used for debt, saving, investing, and for our various home projects. One of my goals the next 2-4 years is to fund our home projects almost entirely with side hustle income.

Making blogging my primary income has never been the goal – nor will it ever be. I like it as a part-time career….an escape from my world of software engineering. That being said…the extra income is SWEET. Thanks for reading, DC!
