Monday’s post hosted a review and giveaway of Todd Tresidder’s book, How Much Money Do I Need To Retire and it’s time to announce the winner. Gina Helton, come on down, you’ve won! Expect an email from me in the near future to finalize delivery of the book to you. Congratulations to Gina, and thank you to everyone who entered.
This weekend we’ll be celebrating my daughter’s twelfth birthday (which is officially on Monday). Is it me, or does there seem to be less pressure on birthdays as kids get older? This year she wants to get together with her friends for the day at a water park at a nearby hotel. In the whole grand scheme of things, taking Tori and 5 of her friends there for the day isn’t that expensive. Also easy to plan and coordinate.
Time to do some fist pumping!

Pissed I didn’t win the book! It sounded like a pretty good one. Hope your daughter’s birthday goes well, and I think people just generally have lower expectations as they get older, even kids. Unless your my sister…then you have ‘Birthday Week’ *sigh* can you imagine being the younger brother of someone who does that in high school?!? haha hope you have a good weekend!
LOL, my wife always jokes about it being her “birthday week” too. But I guess wives are allowed to do that kind of thing. 🙂
I hope your daughter has a good birthday. Thank you very much for including Mike’s post in your roundup Travis. I really appreciate the support. Have a great weekend!
She had a great time celebrating her birthday over the weekend, Grayson – happy to promote great content!
Thanks for the fist pump, Travis! Always appreciated. It makes me very happy to hear that as kids get older their birthday parties become less complicated. We seem to still be in the big class party stage. 🙂 I look forward to when it’s just a few of their closest BFFs! Have a great weekend and Happy Birthday to your daughter!
I remember the “invite your whole class” birthday parties…..and I remember the bill too! This year’s celebration was soooo stress free. 🙂 thanks for commenting!
Happy, happy birthday to Tori!!! Hope you guys have a great time celebrating on Monday. 🙂
Thanks, Laurie – since her birthday falls on a school day, we celebrated over the weekend. We asked her if she wanted to do something special for dinner – her answer? papa murphy’s take and bake cheese bread. Whatever works, I guess!
Happy birthday to your sweetie daughter! Last February was my daughter’s seventh birthday, she just wanted a simple birthday together with her friends.
Good for her, Marie! I think our daughter actually prefers smaller parties too. The last time she had a very large gathering she seemed distracted and agitated by all the noise and commotion. It’s nice to have the group small enough to be able to spend time with everyone. Thanks for your comment!
