Meal Planning Saves!

I know there are lots of people out there that are very efficient at meal planning.  You save time, money,  and unnecessary running around at the last minute in order to get that hot meal on the table.  To those of you out there that this applies to, I applaud you.  We have tried it a few times and it always seemed like we spent a trillion dollars a week in order to grab every ingredient.  Needless to say, we gave up because of it!

We know meal planning has many benefits, so we wanted to give this a try.  We figure, if anything, it will give us a basic blueprint for doing it ourselves, as we get better.  If you are like us, and need that initial push, you should give it a try too.

What is E-Mealz?

E-Mealz is a website that provides a meal plan that helps you save time and money. The website even offers plans specifically for certain stores or diet preferences.  E-mealz helps you plan in advance, your dinners for each week, while providing you a list to do the necessary grocery shopping.

After reviewing the site further, we feel pretty confident that it can help us, so we decided to give it a try! We are pretty excited about this decision and can’t wait to reap the benefits.

I will keep you posted on how it works, the benefits, and what we think of the program as we learn more about it ourselves.

Why E-Mealz?

Are you busy? Looking for a way to save time and money? E-mealz can help!

From the website itself:

“E-Mealz has been created to provide a kid-friendly and family-uniting meal planning resource for busy Moms and frugal family cooks. Each meal plan is based on the current sales at the grocery stores, with plan options categorized according to store and/or weight management strategy. The recipes are delicious, simple and easy to follow. Each plan is new every week and has a corresponding aisle-by-aisle grocery list. Almost every week includes a crock-pot recipe and easy dinner ideas. There are meal plans for two people, for a low fat diet, a low carb diet, and for those who are following a point system, as well!”

How Much Is E-Mealz?

It is surprisingly inexpensive with a weekly cost of only $1.25. $5.00 a month is very affordable and well worth trying. I know I have spent way more than $5.00 a month on stopping by a store to pick up something to drink. For the price of 3-20 ounce sodas you can get a monthly meal plan that gives you a shopping list every month!

Just like with a budget, having a plan is always better!

Glad you decided to try e-mealz….I knew you would like it! I would pay the monthly fee out of my grocery budget since this plan will save you money anyway. Let me know what you think after trying it for a while.

  2. Jim Hahn says:

You can also do pretty well with coupons (I got 3 boxes of cereal for 88 cents each by coordinating sales with manufactures coupons) and by having certain foods always on hand in the house (meat in the freezer, vegies in the refrigerator and rice and potatoes in the cupboard). You’ll also be able to save a bundle by cutting processed foods out of your diet.

Interesting… I’m eager to hear how it goes. Grocery/meal planning has been at the bottom of our list. We budget $100/person/month and that’s it… I like the idea of having a real plan.

    Let us know!

Tanya: Thanks for telling me about it!

Jim: That is a great way to save even more money!! Meal planning AND couponing together…I like it! Thanks for the insight and I SO HATE processed foods! Thanks Jim!

The Dad: We have always sucked it and as a result it was at the bottom of our to do list as well. I hope it helps us change our negative feelings from the past, and I will certainly keep everyone updated.

Christmas 2008 my wife and I gave E-Z meal subscriptions as Christmas presents. Our family loved it.
Buying convenience food destroys a lot of people’s budgets this is a helpful tool to keep the food budget in order.
    Thanks for the post.
