Pay Off Debt By Saving Money

How often do you mindlessly pay whatever price the store is asking? I’m not even one of those hardcore coupon clippers that spend hours each week laboring over countless newspapers, but I do believe in getting bargains most of the time.

Quite honestly, I’m just as guilty as you are about sometimes ignoring possible savings out of mere inconvenience. I sometimes wonder how much I would have saved if I wasn’t so impatient.

What if finding and using coupons was actually convenient and less time consuming though? How much faster could you pay off your debt, build that emergency fund, or fund that retirement account if you saved money on most of your purchases? Five percent here, or ten percent there can add up to a lifetime of savings. There are many ways to save a buck these days, but I have found a great website that gives you the opportunity to compound your savings and even offers you cash back on your purchases.

With around 3,700 popular stores to save you money, how could you not want to at least check it out? What about the convenience of not having to brave the crowds, and instead shop from the convenience of your own home? Costly shipping doesn’t apply with an alphabetical list of stores offering free shipping. Coupon Cactus will save you time and money! It’s easy to locate your favorite stores, the newest offers, expiring coupons, biggest discounts, clearance items, and even Coupon Cactus exclusives.

My wife loves using coupons so I showed her the site and she loves it! Don’t take my word for it though, go see for yourself. Here’s what they had to say about why using their website to save you money is a great financial decision.

I’m mindful about money. Instead of being mindless, I am aware that I don’t have to spend it. Of course I like to get the lowest price, especially on things that I feel I have to buy – regular purchases and expenses. This frees me to buy special purchases, because they are rare and I have the money I didn’t waste.

That deal for Target is something I couldn’t usually take advantage of, because it would be unusual for me to spend $50 there. Incentives to spend more in order to save are actually more work for me than they are worth, and in fact, recently put me on the losing end of the deal at CVS. They often give e-mail coupons of $5 off a $30 purchase, but I failed to spend $30 even when trying, because I picked up the wrong sized sale items – the larger size of buy one, get one free. When I got the right size, I didn’t total $30. I ended up losing $7 on a couple of attempts at that store to save money, and all I have to show for it is the thinnest store brand toilet paper I’ve ever seen. And I only bought it to try to spend more. The end effect of this is that I’m not going to try to use the coupons. That means 1-2 trips to that store monthly at the most, and much more savings than $5.

  2. I take advantage of convenient deals and spend about 10 minutes a week clipping coupons and 10 minutes a week using those coupons. I also price out almost all non-food items online to see where the best possible deal may be (although I will only spend a little while on this and decide pretty quickly). So, I’d say I’m a combo of impatience and deal hunting… 🙂

We are pretty lousy at cutting coupons, all though we have given it a try on more than one occasion. My mom was a coupon master though! We have tried using sites like <a href="http://www.thegrocerygame.com” target=”_blank”>www.thegrocerygame.com but never stuck to it because of the coupon hunting you have to do.

I\’m definitely a mix as well. Sometimes I get impatient while out searching for the best buy and will end up just buying the lowest price found, without searching any more. (That\’s kind of the way guys operate though.) While out pounding the streets, I just want to get in and out, which is the cause of my impatience. However, when I am shopping online, I have all the patience in the world it seems. LOL

Make me go shopping and I will spend a little more just to end the painful experience! I hate shopping! LOL Give me a need, a computer, and a site like Coupon Cactus or Quibids.com and I\’m a money saving machine. LOL!!!

AWESOME comment Yana! You are right about the dangers of using coupons when you don\’t really need to buy anything. (or buying more than you would simply because there is a discount if you do.) We are pretty good about not doing that but there are times where we have to take a step back and say….”wait, do we really need to spend $50?” My wife is guilty of that ESPECIALLY at CVS!! The truth is, how much could someone REALLY need from CVS? Unless of course you fill your prescriptions there obviously, but most of what’s at CVS cost more than it would somewhere else anyway.LOL But we do get so take advantage of some of the cash back incentives there from time to time. 😀

If you spend more money than you intended to just because there was a sale then you are really not saving money at all. We would have no problem using the Target incentive because my wife loves to shop there anyway.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!

I have to tell you that I also love shopping online. Until I discovered amazon.com and to a lesser extent, eBay, I didn’t like shopping at all – unless it was food shopping. Now I even buy some grocery items at amazon. Buying things like netbooks, computer accessories, and most recently, a cable modem, feel very good when you don’t pay shipping or sales tax. Right now I’ve got 30 days free of Amazon Prime, so I don’t have to spend $25 to get free shipping. Have only used it for a bottle of vitamins so far. eBay is great for buying new cell phones to activate on PagePlus Cellular. No sales tax is more significant when you are buying an expensive cell/smartphone, and then you save a lot of money by not contracting with a provider.
