What Is A Paradigm Shift?

As defined, is ¹) a fundamental change in approach or assumptions, and ²) the acceptance by a majority of a changed belief, attitude, or way of doing things.

What if your way of thinking changed completely?  Would your behaviors change as well?  People are afraid of change, but change for the better should be nothing to fear! Change is growth and maturity, because if you are not changing you are not learning. Learn to change and you will be amazed at what you can do!  Become a butterfly!

Check out these four articles from four very influential bloggers.  Also be sure to check out my weight loss update and extra thoughts at the bottom.  Digg it, tweet it, stumble it or whatever else you can do to spread the word. THANKS! :D

BEHAVIOR – The Accumulation Of Debt

This Is Why You Are In Debt written by Marc from Marc And Angel Hack Life.  I recently just found this blog and I am so glad I did.  This blog is LOADED with tons of helpful information to make your life easier, and more enjoyable.  Here’s an excerpt from the article:

“Please remember, financial debt can be avoided and erased.  It just takes a little effort, education, and determination on your end to make it possible.  So as I’ve said before, live a comfortable life, not a wasteful one.  Do not spend to impress others.  Do not live life trying to fool yourself into thinking wealth is measured in material objects.  Manage your money wisely so your money does not manage you.  And always live well below your means.” – Marc

He gives you 18 reasons why you are broke and in debt up to your eyeballs!!  This is a must read!  You will only be disappointed if you are in denial.

BEHAVIOR – The Accumulation Of Stuff

This has become one of my FAVORITE blogs!  Leo is a great writer and really pushes an alternative, yet insightful lifestyle.  I only say alternative because most people are on the other side of the spectrum, with lives cram packed with stuff, regret, and loads of stress.  How To Live A Better Life With Less is an awesome read!  Zen Habits is in the TOP 100 blogs on the net, and he is also a best selling author of the book, The Power of Less: The Fine Art of Limiting Yourself to the Essential…in Business and in Life.  His posts are not only thought provoking but challenge you to think differently in order to experience life’s greater joys.  Here’s an excerpt from his post:

I’ve worked for more than 5 years now to simplify my life, and while I’ve discovered the sublime joys of living a simple life, I’ve realized most people don’t get it.

‘Why would I want LESS?’ they ask themselves. ‘Less is less fun, harder, monk-like, boring.’

The simple answer: because life can be so much better with less.

That’s hard to believe if you haven’t tried it, but today I am happier than ever. I’m better off financially than ever, now that I’m out of debt and living blissfully debt-free. I am unencumbered by a crapload of stuff, and I have room in my life for what’s truly important: my family, my writing, and my twin loves of reading and running.” – Leo

BEHAVIOR – Ignoring Your Potential

Jeff over at My Super-Charged Life is launching a new series about 12 Smart Living Rules to help you find success in life.  In Smart Living: Announcing a Deep Look Into Living Life to the Fullest, he provides an overview of what you can expect.  I am very impressed and look forward to checking out this series.  Here are just a few of the 13 rules to simple living he intends on covering:

  • Smart Living Rule 1 – Take Full Responsibility For Your Life
  • Smart Living Rule 5 – Make Your Life Count for Something
  • Smart Living Rule 8 – Never Stop Learning and Growing

Most people go with the flow never realizing everything they are missing.  Most people would rather point fingers, rather than take full responsibility for their actions and their lives.  Most people never even imagine how their lives could be different if they had purpose to experience a deeper meaning in life.  Most people are too busy trying to find out who has been voted off of American Idol to even discover that the knowledge they carry is nothing compared to what there is too learn. Most people are too busy to realize LIFE is passing them by.  Don’t be MOST PEOPLE! Life has more to offer and you have more to offer life! :D

BEHAVIOR – Looking For Happiness In The Wrong Places

In a world filled with materialism and the constant struggle to impress others, Frugal Dad delves into what happiness really is.  What is happiness?  How do we define success?  Is it fancy cars, 2 week vacations, and keeping up with the Joneses?  Of course happiness and success to some is about those things, but I happen to think differently myself.  Money and possessions can provide hours of entertainment and fun, but my happiness comes from a much different place.  Time with my family is very valuable, and helping others is right there at the top.  I have learned that if I manage my money instead of allowing my money to manage me, I don’t really need as much as I thought I did.

Ultimately, as I experience financial peace for myself, I will be able to build wealth without working myself into a grave, and love what I do enough to feel like I am not missing out.  Contentment is something very few people ever experience fully.  They are always in search of the next big thing they think will make them happy.  Go read Happiness For Others Comes From Contentment With Yourself, and maybe it will inspire you to think about what makes you happy.  Here’s an excerpt:

It was at this point that I went through sort of an early mid-life crisis. Up to that point I had been fast-tracking the career ladder, having started literally on the bottom rung and made my way to middle management. Of course, the promotions often meant more headaches, more travel and not much more money. I came to a point in my life where I would gladly give up the late nights, Saturday mornings and two week cross-country trips for more time with my wife and kids.” – Frugal Dad

A Little Something Extra

I hope you have enjoyed this compilation of great reads.  Maybe these things do not apply to you directly, but if they do I hope you can use this as a constructive guide to reflect on how you can change your current behaviors for the better.  Our behaviors, if bad, can unravel the best of intentions.  What’s important to you and how can you achieve your goals by addressing the behaviors that keep you from reaching them?  Self reflection is the best teacher!

I have currently become VERY SERIOUS about changing the behaviors that caused me to not only become unhealthy and overweight, but the behaviors that will cause me to miss out on so much if left unchecked.  No one knows when their time is up, but we can work as hard as we want to lengthen that time in order to enjoy life to the fullest.  What if you were a butterfly instead of a caterpillar?

Weight loss update: I have been doing Weight Watchers for almost three and a half weeks and I have lost 12 pounds, NOT COUNTING this Saturdays hopeful weight loss.  I am becoming very comfortable with the lifestyle changes that have taken place in the last few weeks.  I hope to continue making progress and plan to stick to it no matter what.  When I fail, it will only be temporary because I refuse to stay down!

I will become debt free!  I will become healthy and fit!  I will work in my strengths and passions!  I will run a marathon! I will give lots of money away! I will make a difference!  I WILL!

Remember:  What you believe is what you achieve!  Change your thinking!

attitude

Attitude Is Everything!

Finally! The first part to my series on the Keys To Effective Money Management.  Many people put hope in the microwave plan that takes minimal effort and usually fizzles out, but the real answer to transforming your financial situation, is really more like a slow cooker.  It takes time, patience, consistency, and dedication to really get the hang of it.  Most of all it takes the right attitude to effectively start the process.  Behaviors do not just change automatically, your attitude and view about money and life may need adjusting.

“Attitude and behavior are woven into the fabric of daily life. Research has shown that individuals register an immediate and automatic reaction of “good” or “bad” towards everything they encounter in less than a second, even before they are aware of having formed an attitude. Advertising, political campaigns, and other persuasive media messages are all built on the premise that behavior follows attitude, and attitude can be influenced with the right message delivered in the right way.”

I have also created 12 Steps to encourage a debt free attitude, that I feel  strongly about.  Please check it out!

This post is a little longer than most of my articles, but I hope you are able to take the time to complete it.  I also spent some extra time linking to other sites and articles to give you additional resources.  Your questions, comments and feedback are appreciated.  Has this article been helpful to you?

What Is Your Attitude About Money?

Misconceptions concerning money are widespread and can very easily go from one extreme to the other.  Emotions tend to dictate attitude as most people form their attitude about money based on their own experiences. Good or bad, those experiences can either help and motivate you, or limit you, causing YOU to be your worst enemy.

One of the biggest, and probably the most well known misconceptions about money, is the one that says “money is the root of all evil“.  People that believe this have no motivation or reason to build wealth.  In their opinion, it’s evil, so why should they participate?  Saying money is evil is like saying knives are evil.  Knives can be used to carve works of art, and prepare food, or they can be used to inflict harm.  It’s the same with money, it can be used for good or evil.  In FPU, Dave Ramsey reminds us that money is amoral.  The person that has it decides what to do with it, not the money itself.  The truth is that instead of refusing to participate because you think it is evil, you should consider countering evil by using yours for the greater good.  The best way to avoid hoarding money is to become a very generous giver.

Do you believe that people who have money took advantage of others, in order to get it?  While I am positive this is true in some cases, it certainly is not true for most people that have acquired wealth.  Most wealthy people provided some kind of beneficial service that someone else deemed important to them.  Providing that service took hard work, sacrifice, diligence, and passion to produce, and they should get paid for their efforts.  They also made wise decisions with what money they do have. You don’t have to take advantage of people to become wealthy, all you have to do is understand how to serve others, earn an income, and then learn how compound interest works.

What Is Your Attitude About Debt?

Do you believe that debt is a tool?  If your opinion about debt is that you MUST use it or have it in order to enjoy life, then you are COMPLETELY mistaken!  You don’t HAVE to, you CHOOSE to!  Believe it or not, you can actually buy a car without going into debt.  That’s right, they take cashWhen it comes to debt we have been trained like dogs to obey our masters. Your leash is the FICO score, or as I like to call it, your 3-digit financial slave number.  That score constantly reminds you that in order to make your master happy, you MUST borrow money.  After all you can’t enjoy life without good a credit score right?  Debt is how rich people become wealthy, because they use it as a tool to prosper right?  WRONG!

Debt keeps you from using the real wealth building tool which is your income!  Yes, your income is all you need, and the kicker is that you don’t have to make tons of money.  All you have to do is manage what you do have.  If you do a budget, and still find you can’t make it, then you either need to cut your lifestyle down more, or you need to find a way to increase your income.  There is ALWAYS an answer, but so often people look to fix their situations by addressing the wrong things.

If you have lots of debt, it’s a problem but it is not the problem.  The debt is a symptom of something much larger, your behavior.  You are using debt, or you are spending more than you make.  Stop spending more than you make, and please stop digging yourself a deeper hole by borrowing.  Debt consolidation is not the solution!  Bankruptcy isn’t going to change your behavior!  You are going to fix your problem by addressing your behavior, nothing else.  Your attitude and acceptance of debt can keep you from building wealth, and make managing your money stressful.  Change your attitude and your behavior regarding debt and you will be surprised at how much easier personal finance becomes.

What Is Your Attitude About Work?

Do you believe in only traditional methods of earning income?  Have you accepted a job that you hate but feel it is your only source of income?  I hope not, but if you have, the good news is that there is another way.  Unfortunately, most people hate their job or career path that they started.  Dan Miller, who wrote the book 48 Days To The Work You Love, says that in order to find your purpose in life you need to look at these three things:

1.  Skills and Abilities
2.  Personality Traits
3.  Goals, Dreams, & Passions

Find a career that utilizes those three things.  In doing so, you set up a more positive, more enjoyable work experience, as oppose to the thank god it’s Friday, oh no it’s Monday mentality.  The idea is that if you are working in your strengths, dreams, abilities, and passions, you are more likely to enjoy what you do.  If you enjoy what you do, then working becomes less like work.  I like that idea a lot, and it is part of what made me take a look at what it was that I wanted to do in life.  About two years ago, I was looking at becoming a Real Estate Appraiser, which is something I had just chosen right out of thin air, based on it being a good paying job.  Would I have liked it?  Maybe so, but I think it is safe to say that it was definitely NOT my passion, therefore I might have invested lots of time, energy, and money into a career, only to find that I was still unhappy.  Becoming a certified financial counselor is my goal, my passion, and now my dream, but I still do not plan to stop there.

This is not to say you should just go and quit the job that you hate, although some have, but it should get you thinking about how doing something you love, could be more rewarding and in turn, more profitable.  I guess the main point here is that you shouldn’t limit your abilities because of common misconceptions.

If you can play the violin like a pro, because you have practiced, but have no formal training in teaching others how to play, that doesn’t mean that you can’t start a blog, giving tons of free advice while providing online lessons to those who want to learn.  You don’t need college to teach people something that you are already an expert at, AND you can do it at your own pace while you are working your current job.  Slow but steady progress in the right direction.  What if your passion for music enabled you to eventually surpass your current income level from the job you hate?  Wouldn’t that ROCK??  Bye-bye job you hate, right?

What Is Your Attitude About Education?

Many people are of the opinion that the only way they can be anything is by getting a college education.  Yes, college certainly has it’s benefits, but it isn’t the only way to educate yourself.  There have been many great companies started by men and women who dropped out of college, or never finished High School.  Education is actually free, if you consider picking up a book and reading as education.  Learning comes in many forms and only one of them happens to be college.  Reading builds confidence, stimulates brain cells, and causes a new level of creativity.  Ideas are born by people who decide that they can never learn too much.

This quote by Adam Cooper and Bill Collage says it all!  “You don’t need fancy highbrow traditions or money to really learn. You just need people with the desire to better themselves.” Charlie “Tremendous” Jones was known for saying, “You will be the same person tomorrow, next week, next month, next year and in 5, 10, 20 years except for two things – the people you meet and the books you read.”

If you are reading this blog then you have internet, which happens to be a HUGE resource for learning.  Granted, you have to be able to separate fact from fiction, but there are so many FREE (Dave Ramsey offers a free lesson here) legitimate resources online! Another FREE way to learn is by joining the local library.  As long as you turn the books in on time it is absolutely free.  Something else you can do is ask LOTS of questions when around the right people.  You never know when you will hear that priceless piece of information that sparks the next Google or Facebook.  Surround yourself by people who can inspire you!

When I started this blog I knew nothing about css code or stylesheets or even blogging for that matter, but by going to the right places to learn a few things I was able to change it enough to make it my own.  I could of just decided it wasn’t worth it simply because I didn’t know enough about running one, but I didn’t.  I’m glad I didn’t, now I just have to learn how to make a few bucks, but my point is that I learned something for free that allowed me to do something more.  This blog has allowed me to talk about my passion which is teaching people to live debt free.  It has also has expanded my knowledge on personal finance, because of the research that comes with informing people.  Your willingness to learn is without limitations, except for the ones you place in front of you.

Do You Blame Others, Or Look For Answers?

The book QBQ – The Question Behind The Question, written by John G. Miller, taught me that I was asking the wrong questions.  It’s really easy to point fingers, especially when you feel someone wronged you.  It’s hard not to, we have all done it right?  What if instead of focusing on who to blame, you decided to make your situation better by asking yourself how you can fix the problem and move on?  This is about attitude.  When you change your mind about what is right and wrong, and accept responsibility for how to make it better, you have then empowered yourself to change the outcome, no matter how bad or messed up it once was.

You can blame credit cards, credit card companies, banks, the government, or anyone else  for how your financial situation is right now, but what will that solve?  Maybe you got taken advantage of, OR maybe more of the responsibility lies on your shoulders than you are willing to admit.  Either way, you have to figure out how to get yourself out of the mess you are in.  The banks are not going to make it better, YOU are!  The sooner you realize that, the easier this money thing will be.  Saving money,  avoiding debt, and having a plan for your money, will drastically improve your financial position.

Take responsibility for yourself, and do not allow the notion that someone else is keeping you from doing or becoming something greater, to be your guiding light.  Blaming others will cause you to remain stagnant because you think that there is nothing in your power that can be done to change it.   I spent years blaming others and it caused resentment, hatred, and emotionally drained me, but it never once solved my problems.

positive thinking

Your Attitude Influences Your Behavior

How you think largely determines how you act.  Just as negative feelings about money can keep you running in place, so can embracing the bondage that keeps you from using your income to grow.  If you think you can’t do it, or if you are under the impression that someone else must do it for you, then not only are you selling yourself short, but you are limiting your ability to win.  You have accepted a myth as truth, and in doing so, have forfeited your future to a master.  In short, what you believe is what you achieve.  How many times have you attempted something that you thought was impossible?

Your attitude must be changed in order for your behavior to be modified.  Your attitude affects your behavior, and your behavior determines how successful you are at achieving your goals.  In part two of this series I will be discussing the behaviors that need to change in order to effectively manage your money.

boy_girl_symbols

That Is The Question!

I have not announced this here on EOD yet, but thought that today would be the best time to do so.  Alana and I are having another baby, due to arrive on October 26th to be exact.  I am very excited about this and today we find out whether we are having a boy or a girl.  I LOVE BEING A DAD, it is the best gift EVER!   What Do I Hope We Are Having?  Honestly it really doesn’t matter to me.  Either way I will be excited just the same.  I do hope that my wife is able to have the little girl she has always wanted, but she has even said either way, she will be pleased.  So if we had to say one way or the other, we would both say we want a girl next.  So at 10a.m. this morning we shall find out!!

I Have To Slow My Blog Roll

Well, some of you may have noticed that last week, I didn’t post as much.  In fact I only really posted one, had a video post, and offered you a guest post.  I kind of figured it was going to happen, but I wanted to ride the wave as long as I could.  I did, and it was fun!  Real fun!  In the process I got behind on some other things in my life and now it is time to step back up to the plate to take care of them.

Things I need to do:

  • finish remodeling the upstairs – my in-laws have been kind enough to help us remodel our house, as their gift to us…and I need to get on it, so it can be done!
  • work on organizing my time – I have to learn how to manage my time in a way that will allow me to maximize my efforts.  I want to accomplish A LOT each day, so this is a MUST!
  • hitting the gym – I really need to focus on this so that I can be around a long time to watch my beautiful children grow.  This is probably one of my hardest to stick to goals, but it must become a lifestyle change and a priority.  Now is as good a time as any!
  • find a another full-time job – As you know, I work for tips.  Tips have not been great lately, so instead of wait around for the economy to get better, I have decided to move on.  I am looking for full-time employment and I plan to keep my delivery job part-time to bring in extra money.  I am also considering doing some pressure washing on the side over the summer.
  • prepare for my speaking engagement – In September I have been asked to speak at Sweet Briar College, for one hour, and this requires some preparation.  (I will be talking about budgeting, savings, buying a home, and managing/avoiding student loans.) I have a few things I have to submit before July 7th, and really need to start working on my message and delivery as well.  This is my chance to really dig my heels in and spread my message to even more people.
  • focus on my public speaking class – It goes without saying that this class will help me with the above goal.  The more I put into it the more I will get out of it.  I actually have to deliver an Impromptu speech to my class this evening.  We were given some freedom to choose our topic, and I have chosen to discuss why I hate debt so much.  SURPRISED? Another thing about this class is that it will make me a better writer as well.  I have already learned so much about writing, and truthfully that is the reason I decided not to publish the first installment of my new series.  I want to make it better so it helps you the most.
  • stabilizing my sleep habits – this area of my life probably causes me more problems than any other area.  I would say that if I could get this one area stabilized, it would help me get better in all of the others.  I DO NOT sleep!  I have done a sleep study and got nothing from it.  Sometimes I will just lie in bed, tortured by my burning eyes and intense desire to sleep, but can’t fall asleep to save my life!  I need to put myself on a strict sleep regiment, requiring me to wake up and go to sleep at the same times every single day.  I also plan to visit my doctor.
  • KILL OUR REMAINING DEBT – This is something that in order for me to knock it out, I need to become intensely focused on KILLING it!  It needs to be gone!  It has hung around for too long!  It is what is keeping me from starting my financial coaching business and experiencing financial peace for my family.  Working more, is the short term solution, and is necessary at this point in time.  With sacrifice comes rewards!

I love writing for this blog!  I could spend everyday doing it, but the truth is I do not get paid for writing this blog.  One day I hope to make enough money to justify spending so much time on EOD.  I want to make this site the go-to-place for people trying to get out of debt, not just a place for people to come and read a bunch of filler articles so that I can say I write full time.  I want to give you quality at it’s best, and it is something I am working on.

I am collaborating with one of my readers to eventually publish the EOD Deluxe Budget Version 3.0 with lots of new features to make your life easier.  I am also trying to meet up with a friend of mine to help me with the look I desire for EOD.  I really need to pump out that series that I started and I want it to be off the hook!  I also have a few guest posts that I really need to write as well. I have a debt free interview coming soon as well from a twitter friend of mine.  Stay on the look out, things will be happening, just at a slower rate with an interest on quality instead of quantity.

I hope that switching back to writing part-time does not mean that I will lose any of you.  I truly enjoy that you have decided that what I have done here is valuable to you, and my only goal is to make it better and more valuable.  After all I do not write for myself, I write for YOU!  I also do not want this to sound as though I want the ideas or questions to stop coming.  Those are often where I get my best articles from, so thanks, and keep them coming!!  I am going to try and publish 2 to 3 articles a week, and if I have time for more, or am feeling so inspired, you will get more.

What About This Week?

I will probably be a little light this week as well, so that I can play catch up.  I do have a guest post I plan to post as well as a follow up by me concerning that guest post.

Now it is time for me to just do it.  I talk all the time on this blog about taking control of your own problems, by resolving to fix them yourself.  Instead of complaining that I just don’t have enough time in the day, or that I am not making enough money, or that my debt just won’t go away, or complaining about my weight, I am taking control.  I CAN MAKE THESE GOALS HAPPEN, and I will!

What do you think?  Is my decision a deal breaker for you, the subscriber?  What do you think of my goals, and can you give me any advice that will be valuable to me in achieving those goals?  I want to know!

Table of contents for Motivation 101

  1. Motivation 101 – YOU CAN DO IT TOO!
  2. Motivation 101 – Saving To Buy, Instead Of Buying To Slave!
  3. Motivation 101 – What You Believe, Is What You Achieve!

Dawn and I have been going back and forth for days now.  I wanted to share with you the difference between her and I, mainly by pointing out why I think she is wrong in her thinking.  Her thinking is how most people look at it, and what I am trying to do here at EOD is to show people that there is another way that provides more options.  I believe that more options translates into a higher success rate.  A lot of people limit themselves by not realizing their options.  I think Dawn dwells on the problem instead of providing a solution.  I do not doubt her well intentions, I just think she’s wrong.  If she believes this and she writes about money, then I know others do as well.

A Perfect Example Of Victim Thinking And Limiting Yourself

Dawn: “I’m sorry, but if you have the misfortune of just a high school diploma, the kind of work you can get may be just at checkout at Walmart. People at that income level do indeed live paycheck to paycheck and it is rather hard to pay the rent, utilities, etc. without going into debt, especially if you live in an expensive state like I do, here in CT.”

“But i think that people who see the crisis we’re in today as a one-dimensional problem solely caused by individuals who wrack up debt, often because they have no other choice, have blinders on.”

NO OTHER CHOICE?” That is the very reason we disagree.  She thinks that people have no other choices and should accept the notion, that’s just how things are.  Limiting yourself by telling yourself that you have no options, will give you exactly that…NO OPTIONS! What you believe, is what you achieve!!

Misfortune of just a High School Diploma?”  I consider a college education to be valuable and an advantage but it is certainly not the only way one can become successful! It is this line of thinking that keeps someone believing that they can’t do something when really they can! What you believe, is what you achieve!!

Me: “My point was this. If I can do something OTHER than live on minimum wage and I have only a high school diploma, then others can do the same. I am not special! Instead of accepting my struggle I have decided to be proactive in how my life turns out. It’s really that simple. People can educate themselves about anything using the internet and resources from the library to help make their way. Anything is possible and that includes living without debt.”

Me And The Victim Mentality Do Not Get Along

Dawn: “Lax bank regulation played a big role in the mess we’re in and bankers, having the training and lending knowledge, understood the risks better than lower income people trying to get ahead. The banks were out for profit only and by looking the other way, made it possible for people who could ill afford to purchase a home to in fact do so. If the banks said “no,” we wouldn’t be where we are today.”

Here we go blaming others again! Obviously Dawn wasn’t paying attention when Washington put pressure on mortgage lenders to give loans to people that shouldn’t have got them.  Also, she is suggesting that people blindly sign their name without understanding or knowing what it is that they are signing. Rule number 1: Understand anything and everything that you put your name on, OR do not complain about the end result of you not knowing!  If you understand that rule then you understand why it is not someone else’s fault that YOU signed your name!

Me: “You believe you are helping people and I respect that. You are encouraging the problem by telling them that what they have been doing is NOT their fault, and I am saying maybe it’s time for people to start examining their habits, and try something else. You want to place blame and I want to empower people to take control of their finances. I like my way because I know my way works and your way just continues the problem. The victim mentality is a form of slavery and I am trying to free the slaves from their own peril.

Who Is Really The One That Is Single-Mindlessly Focused?

Dawn: “Brad, I really think that you and I are on the same page…we both want people to take responsibility for their financial well being. Its not something that’s often taught in schools.

The difference, I think, is that I also work to inform people of various other forces at work that are often beyond the ability of the average person to control. I’m talking about various government regulations (or the lack thereof), global economic events and just plain bad luck. You seem to be single-mindlessly focused on personal responsibility without acknowledging that sometimes, despite the very best effort and intentions, $*%# happens.”

I wrapped up the conversation with this:

Me: “You are right Dawn, I personally think it is a waste of time to try and figure out who was at fault. The bottom line for me is that when people look at their situation and say how can I make it better, instead of who caused it, I think they can be more productive towards defeating the enemies that cause the bad luck and other various forms of excuses that you named off. SO WHAT if the Government does or doesn’t have regulations concerning credit cards…don’t use credit cards and empower yourself to live without the crutch that has become credit. You seem to be overlooking the fact that if you have a plan then those things that happen, don’t really affect you all that much.

I personally believe that you are making people less active in winning because you are too concerned with having them focus on everything being out of their control, instead of allowing them to see HOW to climb those obstacles. People don’t want to know that there are obstacles, they already know that, they want to know how to overcome them!

Now for why I consider myself to be an expert in this area. I USED to do what you do! I USED to look at the supposed problems! I USED to focus on why things were happening to me! It wasn’t until I started reading more from Dave Ramsey, Dan Miller, Brian Tracy, and John G. Miller that I realized I was wasting my time, AND when I began to ask myself different questions. You should really read a book called QBQ- The Question Behind The Question, because I believe you focus on asking the wrong questions.

My life and direction changed completely once I started to think differently. I actually started defeating my obstacles instead of looking for who put them there. I now believe in myself and my ability to secure my own future, without relying on Washington or anyone else to put a rule in place that will protect me. What I learned is that there is hope and empowerment in realizing I do not have to accept your ideas and solutions.

With all of that said, I would like to respectfully say that we are hardly alike. Maybe you should re-examine which one of us is more “single-mindlessly focused”, since you are the one that is in the box, and I am the one outside of it telling people there are more options where I am.”

END

Lesson: Don’t limit yourself by accepting what you think you can’t do, go find out that you can do it!  What you believe, is what you achieve!!

Do you agree or disagree with me?  Let me know, and as I was with Dawn, please be respectful!  I would love to hear your opinion.

Motivation 101 – Saving To Buy, Instead Of Buying To Slave!
