Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University Week 6

This week's lesson is Buyer Beware which is mostly about advertising and marketing. It was interesting because it's easy to forget that almost every company, big and little, has at least one full time person whose only job in life is to figure out how to get your money. It's pretty incredible if you think about it. He started out by saying how we are living in the most marketed culture in the history of the world. Which I totally believe is true. Look back at TV from even 20 or 30 years ago. There is way less marketing built into shows and sports. Well, put it this way, how could it NOT be true. They certainly aren't marketing to us any less, that's for sure. Read more »

What’s Your Debt Free Plan? Get Organized!

Photo Credit: banspy So it’s 2011 and you have decided to get out of debt. What next? Getting out of debt can be a very overwhelming undertaking especially when you have no idea where you actually stand. The truth, although sometimes ugly, shall set you free. Too many people — my former self included — simply avoid the truth and walk around ignoring the reality of their financial situations. I’ll just say what you probably already know. Ignoring reality doesn’t make it any less real and denial does more to hurt you than to help you. Once you’ve decided that […] Read more »

The Time Is Near – Wish Me Luck!

Hello everyone!  As some of you know I am speaking at a college this Friday, for one whole hour, to a group of ladies about budgeting, saving, student loans, and buying a home.  I was asked to speak about those topics for people who are just starting out, and I said yes, while a little but very loud voice screamed NOOOOOOO!! Myth: I Don’t Make Enough To Do A Total Money Makeover

You Don’t Make Enough Money To Manage It? I hear this excuse all the time.  Yes, I said excuse, or you could call it a justification for not wanting to face managing your money.  Either way you look at it, it is still a myth.  Yes, it is true that you could do more faster if you made more money, but to say you can’t, simply because you think it is impossible to do so much with so little, is selling yourself short.  I would argue that it is even MORE important for you to be on a Total Money […] Read more »
