What We Learned About Finances Will Help us Lose Weight

I’m not doing very well with my weight loss goal. As of last Friday, after over three months of effort I’ve lost a total of 1.1 pounds. I know the problem is that I struggle with eating too much. With the start of a new year, Vonnie also has made a commitment to be more healthy. We investigated several weight loss programs including Weight Watchers, which we have been a part of in the past and were very successful. We were literally putting our coats and shoes on to drive to a nearby center and enroll again when something stopped […] Read more »

Psychology and Money – If You Know Something Isn’t Good For You, Why Do You Still Do It?

I’ve long been a fan of dealing with the psychological and behavioral issues related to how we manage money. It’s the things we do with money that take us to where we ultimately end up. One of my favorite websites is The Psychology of Money. I also like Psyblog – Understand Your Mind. 😀 Having recently stepped up my efforts to lose weight and become healthy, I’ve been facing my own behaviors when it comes to my eating habits. I have a history of binge-eating which has ultimately led to this vicious cycle most people know as the “yo-yo diet” […] Read more »

I Lost 18 Pounds in 14 Days!!

Hello everyone! Today is the day I reveal how much weight I lost in just 14 days while doing the Rev Abs 14-day jump start nutrition program. All in all, it was GREAT! The first week went off without a hitch, but week two was a bit more difficult as I experienced elevated cravings pretty much all week long. When I began this jump start program (two weeks ago) I weighed in at 280 pounds. The first seven days I had the most incredible results. One week ago today, I weighed in at 266 pounds. That is not a typo! […] Read more »

Photo Credit: West Point I wanted to get out of debt so I BROUGHT IT!! Now I want to lose weight so I’M BRINGING IT!! What do they have in common? Intensity! It’s about intensity and doing things you wouldn’t “normally do”. It’s not about kind of sort of wanting to lose weight or dump your debt. It’s about sacrifice! It’s about intensity! If you’re not willing to do either your debt free journey will seem like a trip to the moon, and likewise, if you’re trying to lose weight! Its about dedicated and deliberate action! Enemy of Debt Behind the Scenes

Photo Credit: Alan Cleaver Hello everyone! First of all, I’d like to apologize for my delay in posting the Race to Freedom Introductions post. Am I Having a Boy or a Girl? Today We Find Out!

A Proud Big Brother,Isaac with his New Little Brother Noah – Day After Noah’s Birth Hello everyone! What a weekend! Today is an exciting day! All my wife wanted for her birthday was to have an appointment to see a “special” doctor to find out if we are having a boy or a girl — earlier than normal. The first two times she wanted this I was against it, mainly because it costs $100 (it hurts just to think about it) and we were at the time still trying to become debt free. Now we’re debt free, and although I […] Read more »

Reach Your Goals by Aligning Your Actions With Those Goals

Last night I was taking a closer look at my goals and I realized something. My top two goals in 2011 are to lose weight and to save approximately $15,000 for our big emergency fund and a “newer” used car. As I was considering what I could do to make sure I do something every day that contributes to my success, I realized something. I have a blog, Enemy of Fat, just kind of hanging out in the enchanted land of blogger abandonment, all the while I’m writing for another blog I started called Inside C’ville. That blog does nothing […] Read more »

Why the Frugal Get Fit: How Fitness Can Help You Save Big

Photo Credit: thephotagraphymuse This is a guest post written by Pam Greene. Bob was overweight as a child. He continued to gain weight throughout his life until he weighed almost four hundred pounds. When he was in his early 60s, he caught a cold. The cold turned into pneumonia and from there his health took a deathly downward spiral. His kidneys started shutting down. He had congestive heart failure. For a week, he was on death’s door in the intensive care unit in the hospital. Doctors worked feverishly to save his life. Miraculously, they did. Bob never regained his full […] Read more »

My Resolutons – Track My Progress!

Hello everyone and happy Friday! Last year I made lots of resolutions but failed to track them throughout the year. This year I am not making the same mistake. That’s why I created a page you can go to whenever you are curious as to how I am doing on the resolutions I set to accomplish. (and to hold me accountable) Hopefully, this will not only help keep me accountable, but will also motivate and inspire some of you to fulfill your own resolutions in 2011! I will be updating this page weekly, monthly, and sometimes randomly depending on the […] Read more »

When I’m Sick Of Being Fat, I’ll Lose Weight!

Hello everyone! Recently, I wrote a post titled When You’re Tired Of Being Broke, You’ll Start Saving. If you’ve been a subscriber for any time at all then you know I rarely beat around the bush. I am straight to the point and sometimes that comes off as mean to some. It’s not that I am mean, it’s that I believe that the truth shall set you free. I don’t think that leaving a trail of rose pedals to the bedroom, and dancing around the ugly truth, will help you solve anything. If you know what your situation really looks […] Read more »
