Black Friday At Walmart: The Holiday Superstore

santashopperNovember 28th is right around the corner, which means it’s once again the season for retail madness. Black Friday is the Super Bowl of retail, and is looked at as one of the most hectic days of the year.

Walmart is among one of the top competitors when it comes to Black Friday Shopping. The Walmart Black Friday 2014 ad has yet to be released, but it should be out in a week or two on bfads.net. Consumers make sacrifices on this day to get high priced items for dirt-cheap. According to BlackFriday.com, Walmart plans to open their doors to the public at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Year’s Rundown

Indecisive between which retail line to stand in? Walmart is stocked up on inventory. Last year, Walmart’s most sold products were big screen televisions, the iPad mini, laptops, Xbox One, PS4 and the video game Call of Duty: Ghost. Though those are far from the only products that were sold. According to news.walmart.com 2.8 million towels were sold along with 2 million televisions, 1.4 million tablets, 300,000 bicycles, and 1.9 million dolls.

In total, Walmart served 22 million customers last year on Black Friday. More than 5 million customers took advantage of Walmart’s One-Hour Guarantee, which has expanded from three items last year, to 21 items this year. Between the hours of 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (the first four hours being open) Walmart processed more than 10 million register transactions in its stores.

Retail Titan

Though Walmart is keeping most of their sales low key until it gets closer to the 28th, they have leaked a few deals, which will be hard to compete with. Gamers will be delighted to know that Walmart’s sale on games and gaming systems will be discounted heavily. Aren’t up to date with the latest gaming console? The Xbox One Holiday Value Console Bundle with “Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag” and “Assassin’s Creed 5: Unity” will be valued at $349, which is a $50 markdown as stated by christiantoday.com. Not only is the Xbox One being discounted but other systems such as the PS3, PS4, Nintendo 3DS and the Wii-U prices will be slashed.

Along with gaming systems, this retail titan is slashing $70 off the Dell 15.6-inch Inspiron 15 laptop, making the price only $479 rather than $549. Walmart is trying to get ahead of the competition, as they have already released a 32-page toy book with savings bundles on the latest toys and goodies. Companies like Disney are relying on Walmart to push products like “Frozen” and “Cars” merchandise, along with Fisher-Price and Crayola items. Discounted prices are great but discounted doorbusters are even better.

Walmart is going to be having multiple doorbuster events within a larger, encompassing sale to ensure that everybody has an opportunity to get some awesome deals. The first doorbuster sale is said to start at 8 p.m., according to Doorbusters.net, and after that, a new doorbuster sale starts every few hours around the clock until early morning. Crates will be set out with items stacked inside, all marked down drastically.

Exclusive Online Deals

Black Friday isn’t for everybody, getting up at the crack of dawn to stand in an extensive line can be intimidating. That’s why Walmart is doing exclusive online deals, so now consumers can still enjoy the savings galore, right from the comfort of their bed. Some items that will be on the online only side will be the RCA 9-inch 8 GB tablet, along with the Sceptre 50-inch LED HDTV, which gives buyers an additional $20 off. I’m sure many more exclusive deals will be offered once Walmart releases their ad, but the leaks are hyping this year up to be much larger than last years.

November Madness

Walmart is a very versatile retailer, specializing in a variety of goods. Ranging from electronics, to household goods, to furniture, Walmart offers it all. A day of madness can be very rewarding to its consumers, whether you shop in person, or from the comfort of a home, these deals need to be taken advantage of.

Last year set records, this year those records are predicted to be broken. Consumers who are tight on money should give this day a try, who knows you might find a little something for someone special. Whether shopping for a spouse, a child, a brother, this day offers something for every member of the family. So get some rest, once Thanksgiving arrives these deals will be a free for all, starting at 6 p.m.

A football coach always prepares for their next game, in this case its Black Friday. Make sure you have a plan – those who come prepared will be victorious in getting everything on their wish list.

In past years I’ve definitely gotten some good deals there. I got a multi-function printer for under $50 one year. And I do like that they divide the store deals into sections so that you don’t all have to stand in line for different items.

That said, we finally have the money to vote with our dollar. So we’ve been steering clear in general. It sucks because there are some good deals this year too. But — and no judgment on people who shop there — we can finally afford a conscience. So that’s what works for us personally.
