39 People Were “Soooo Interested”, but Only 8 People Are Currently Still Determined

When I first mentioned my reality series idea, so many of you were hyped up and said you were so interested in paying off as much debt in 2011 as you could.

The Race to Freedom has officially started, but only 8 people signed up for the challenge. 31 of you are missing in action. I know you didn’t eliminate your debt that fast. πŸ˜€

I’m trying really hard not to be offended. haha! πŸ˜‰

I know and understand how life can get hectic, and some of you may have missed a post or two along the way. That’s why I decided to write this quick post to remind all of you who were jazzed about debt elimination that the show is now on the road. For any of you who are seriously interested, you may want to subscribe via email so you don’t miss a thing. I am sometimes bad about keeping up with my RSS Feeds for blogs I follow so I know how tough it can be to catch everything.

Is your debt situation still as important to you as it was a little over a month ago? I hope so. Join in and reach your debt elimination goals for 2011!

The first monthly challenge has been posted. Race to Freedom Challenge #1 – Sell Your Stuff

  • Anyone can join in!
  • Monthly Challenges w/ Prizes
  • Weekly Video Challenges (videos can be of YOU or done with pictures, music, and text)
  • Accountability

  • FUN!

Hoping to see some more of you jump on board. I know the thought of selling your stuff is a scary one, but if you want to eliminate your debt, sometimes you have to take drastic measures. I’d love to hear from you to see where you stand with this. What are your thoughts?

Sounds like an awesome challenge. I’d participate except that I don’t have any debt to eliminate right now. I wouldn’t be a very exciting contestant. I can’t wait to follow the series and cheer people on though!

  2. Mikki says:

Wow how did I miss all this?? Guess I been busy with the move that I forgot to check the blog!!!!!!!!! arggggggggggggg

  3. This does sound like a fun challenge. I don’t have any debt, so I can’t participate (is it weird to be feeling a little sad about that … like, a little left out)? But I will be watching and cheering!

I DO have a mortgage, but I choose not to pay it off because:
    1) it’s a primary mortgage (not a second mortgage)
    2) at a very low interest rate
    3) which I used to buy a triplex, which I rent out to tenants
    4) so the monthly rental from tenants covers the mortgage
    5) and although I COULD add extra cash to pay off, I’d rather invest that cash in the market.

  4. Dany says:

Can we still join on this challenge?

    • Brad Chaffee says:

Sure Dany! How much debt are you wanting to knock out in 2011? April I’ll be holding a No Restaurants in April challenge. Some of the ladies have given themselves different limitations, but the object is to save as much money as you can by eating at home for the entire month. Welcome! πŸ˜€

Sorry for the delay in responding. For some reason I didn’t get the email I usually get when someone leaves a comment.
