Do you want to hear someone’s idea of a cruel joke? I’ve been soaking in the Florida sun for the last week, and we begin our road trip back to Minnesota tomorrow. Taking place this very minute in Minnesota is a late season major snow storm dumping over a foot of snow in some parts of the state.
Cruel.
Luckily my city will only get a few inches….and I’m actually hoping it melts off by the time I get home Sunday evening.
While on vacation, Vonnie and I managed to stay right on top of our finances. I wanted to mention that because it’s something that many people (including ourselves on past vacations) drop the ball on when they leave behind the daily grind. We had our usual discussions on Thursdays and Sundays including one last night to ensure we were on track, and to finalize our spending plan for the trip back.
How closely do you pay attention to your finances while on vacation?

Travis I just got inside from shoveling about 7 inches of snow – heavy snow, too! It better be the last time I have to do that…on a side note I took your advice from last year and I got a good workout shoveling – no snowblower here! I hope it starts melting before your return, sounds like this afternoon it should start melting and then into the weekend. Hope you guys are loving vacation!
Haha, awesome – real mean use shovels!!! 🙂 We had a great vacation, but it’s great to be back!
My husband’s parents live in Minnesota and they keep saying it’s been brutal up there. It has to warm up sometime, right?!?!?
It HAS been brutal! Snowstorm last week, 60’s this week – gotta love it!
I saw on the new the snow coming down. Here it is 80 degrees and party cloudy. I can’t complain there! Thanks for the mention Travis and have safe travels back.
Oooooh, 80’s….it wasn’t even that warm where we were at in Northern Florida. Cannot wait until Summer! Thanks for stopping by!
We’re getting the same weather, though just not as much snow. They’re calling for about 1-3 inches, but on Monday and Tuesday it was 75 and sunny which is just crazy. Have safe travels back Travis and bring some of that warmer weather with you! 🙂
I think it worked, John….60’s this week in Minny!
Sounds like we’re the winners with 10-12 inches here at the farmstead. Or the losers, maybe I should say. 🙂 Luckily, it’s at 40 degrees here right now and melting already. You guys picked a great week to head to FL. 🙂
Wow, Laurie, that’s a LOT of April Snow! Hope it melts soon…..we got about 3 in Rochester, but it was ALL gone by the time we rolled into town!
I am a MN blogger too. Check out my blog!
But I was out plowing snow in MN this AM at 3 AM. The worst thing about plowing snow, is it is always cold and snowing out. I hate it.
But that’s only one, of several income streams.
Cool! Always happy to meet another Minnesotan in the blogging space….definitely heading over to check out your site! thanks for introducing yourself!
Hopefully you guys only got a few inches. At least you got to enjoy some warm weather on vacation.
We always have a budget for when we go away, and we actually stuck to it the last few times! 🙂
Hey, thanks for sharing Sherrian’s article!
We got just under 3 inches, Khaleef, and it already gone! Great to hear you and Sherrian budget for vacation too – loved her article!
