I Love You Like a Blogger Roundup – 1/18

I saw a video this week about how the people in L.A. are freaking out about the “arctic blast” bringing their high temps for the day into the mid 50’s.  Brrrrr. People out in Kentucky had to deal with a few minutes of sleet.   Just as a comparison, the most recent forecast projects a high temperature for Monday in Rochester, MN at -1.

It’s all relative, I guess.  If I had to deal with California earthquakes, or the summertime heat and humidity of Kentucky, I’d probably just curl up in the fetal position in a corner and sulk.

Stay warm, people….and enjoy the below!

  1. People from California have no idea what cold is unless they live in North Cali. I don’t think I would be able to deal with -5, but who knows. Enjoy your weekend Travis…..

    • Travis says:

Haha, I bet you could do it, Grayson – you get used to it. 🙂 I plan on barricading myself in my house for the weekend and recharging my batteries – have a fantastic weekend yourself!

  2. My in-laws live in San Diego and were freaking out over the 40 degree weather they were having…while we had -2 in Omaha. 😉 I’ve been through a few small earthquakes before…I’ll take the cold!

    • Travis says:

You guys are in Omaha? I have a brother-in-law that lives there, and we may be heading that way in March for a visit. I know Omaha isn’t a small place, but maybe we could meet up if we do end up going!

    Thanks for the love!

It’s been so cold here (in LA!), but coming from Boston, this is nothing. The past two weeks, I’ve played softball (yes, a winter softball league) in shorts and a t-shirt, so it hasn’t been THAT bad. Just a little refreshing!

    • Travis says:

“Refreshing” – I like that Daniel…..I sometimes use the word “Crisp.” When I see a weather forecast like in the video with highs in the 50’s I actually get really jealous – that’s the PERFECT running weather!

Its like 75 here in So Cal right now! I guess you just acclimate to where you live. But we are pretty darn spoiled!

    • Travis says:

That sounds awesome, debtgirl….although I haven’t gotten sick of winter yet. Our snow has all melted and I want a fresh coating to go sledding!

  5. Thanks for the love, Travis!

I love that video clip. I’m from LA, so I know all too well the overhyping of weather. Rain storms, gusty winds, 50 degree temps ALWAYS lead the news hour. It didn’t seem weird growing up. Now I’m mostly ashamed. But LA still has the best car chases, so at least we’ve got that.

  6. Laurie says:

Wow! Your snow is gone? We’ve still got a good 4-6 inches up here. And we are indeed sick of winter already (“it’s too COLD to feed the horses”, the youngins tell me). We too will be barricading ourselves indoors. No such luck for our equine family members, however. Yikes!

    • Travis says:

Yeah, Laurie, we had a couple of days near or above 40, and now there’s just patches of snow laying around. I hate that…..if its gonna be Winter, give me snow and lots of it. Now when the cold returns it’s just going to be brown and dreary. Are you on twitter, Laurie? I can’t remember if we’ve connected there or not…..

      • Laurie says:

Yeah, I’m @thefrugalfamer . We are going to be in Rochester in April for the homeschooling conference. Here’s hoping it’ll still be a good 10 to 20 degrees warmer than it is up here :-).

        • Travis says:

I wasn’t following you….I’ve fixed that. 🙂 You’ll be in Rochester in April, heh? Maybe we could meet up for lunch or a few minutes somewhere just to introduce ourselves? I’d be up for it if you are!

          • Laurie says:

Sounds great! I’ll get ahold of you in April. Enjoy the weather today. Our quarterhorse has white frost-covered eyelashes :-).

  7. Andrea says:

    Thanks for the shout out!

For the record, we did have winter in Kentucky when I was a kid. We actually got at least a few inches of snow every winter! (I know, that’s still not really winter to people from the north.) Today the forecast is 56 and sunny, which thrills my soul because it’s only going to be 29 on Monday. That’s the kind of weather where people only leave their houses if they absolutely have to!
