Tax documents are arriving, and being promptly put into this year’s manila tax envelope. This is the first year in several that I’m not dreading doing our taxes because I’m confident that we’ll be extremely close to even. For the last few years we’ve owed a significant amount of money because I never accounted for the fact that my blogging activity is not taxed up front. Midway through 2015 I made a significant change to my withholdings resulting in our tax bill being much less last year. This year that withholdings change will have been at work throughout the entire year of 2016. It’s a relief not having to worry about having to come up with a huge chunk of funds in April.
Fist pump for taxes, and my favorite posts of the week!

Oh man, I absolutely hate owing money. I know the math is wrong, but we always try to get a small refund. I’m happy to pay a little bit of money for the emotional win of not owing. We made more than expected this year though, so we’ll be close…
Thanks for the mention! Have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you for the mention of Fruclassity’s post, Travis! All the best in coming out even on your taxes : )
Just got my manila tax envelope out too. I plan on organizing this weekend. Good luck with your taxes Travis and thanks for the mention!
I hate it when you’ve got income that you don’t have auto withholding on – it always comes around and bites you in the butt. Almost makes me want to cut back on the side hustles. I said almost, haha. Glad to hear you’ve got a handle on things this year.
