5 Ways To Appreciate Your Special Someone For Under $10

digital-art-398342_1280Relationships are hard work. When a person is in a committed relationship it’s easy to take it for granted, and stop doing those little things to impress and show appreciation towards your significant other that you did when the relationship was fresh and new. Jobs, kids, what to make for dinner and a thousand other tasks of day to day life dig a rut that’s easy to get stuck in. When as a part of that relationship you combine finances and target every dollar towards something, it’s also difficult to break off some funds to go that extra step for your partner without influencing some other part of the budget. Today’s post is about pulling yourself out of that rut and making your partner’s eye’s shimmer again without taking a bite out of your available funds.

Here are 5 ideas to inject a little variety and spark into your relationship, all costing less than $10.

Massage

Pick up a bottle of lotion or even massage oil. Yes, you might even have to go into THAT aisle. It’ll be worth it, I promise. Darken a room, light some candles and give your partner a massage. You don’t have to be a licensed masseuse for a massage to feel good.

Passing Notes

Remember in grade school when you’d pass notes in class? Recreate that fun as an adult by leaving a little note for your special someone. Whether it’s in their lunch container, on the bathroom mirror, or in their pants pocket before they get dressed for the day. Just a little something letting them know you’re thinking of them.

Flowers

We all know how much flowers can cost, especially on Valentine’s Day. But you can walk into Walmart, Sam’s Club, Costco, or any number of super stores on any day of the week and get a nice bouquet of flowers very inexpensively. You can even pick out a card from the value section (99 cents!) and write your own personal note.

Warm Blanket

During the winter months when my daughter was younger, I would occasionally throw a blanket in the dryer before I woke her up for school. When she got up and laid on the couch to watch TV and wake up, I’d grab the warm blanket and wrap her up in it. She loved it. Turns out my wife does too. On a cold winter day surprise your significant other with a warm blanket from the dryer to make them feel all warm and cozy.

Dessert

My wife and I both enjoy the sweet bubbly taste of a Moscato dessert wine. One bottle of that, plus two wine glasses and a package of fresh strawberries and you’ve got yourself a dessert date. Pro Tip: Put a strawberry on the lip of each wine glass. It will add to the aroma of the wine and greatly enhance the experience!

Making your significant other feel special and appreciated doesn’t have to always be an over the top, expensive production. Sometimes it’s a small gift, gesture, or action that lets them know you’ll go that extra mile just for them.

Have you tried any of these? Do you have any inexpensive ideas to add to the list?

    Thanks for the ideas, Travis.

My Mom used to bring a blanket up from the dryer for me when I went to bed in the wintertime. I hadn’t thought of that in years, and my Mom is no longer around. Thank you for the sweet memory!
