Financial Peace University Comes To Charlottesville
It is now official! FPU is coming to Charlottesville, specifically to Trinity Presbyterian Church! The preview will be on July 20th at 6:00 p.m., and the classes will begin on August 3rd! During this time I will be using this blog to get the word out. Almost everything you see will have something to do with FPU. I have created my own video to start things off! ENJOY! UPDATE: We have obviously not reached our original goal of September of 2008. That goal was set based on everything working out perfectly. As you know that only happens in the movies. […] Read more »
BEFORE you go into more debt, WATCH THESE VIDEOS!
Do You Have The New Car Itch? If so you need to watch these videos. They are promotional videos from Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. How many more loan payments are you going to “NEED”? Wise up America!! THINK! Do better for yourselves and your families! Stop buying into the lie that you need to go into debt to have stuff. Stop being a SLAVE, and refuse the bondage that is offered to you everyday! SAY NO! Think about what you could do if you didn’t have all those payments! Here’s an exercise that could help you realize the answer […] Read more »
That’s Right Diane Sawyer, You Should Pay Your Credit Cards LAST!
I watched a video where Dave Ramsey and Clark Howard were being interviewed by Diane Sawyer. In the interview, Diane Sawyer looked bewildered that they would suggest to pay the credit cards last. Then I saw another video that pretty much illustrated why Americans are on the wrong track financially. In this interview, Mellody Hobson is telling us how to survive an economic crisis. Some of her advice may be OK, but her answer on how to prioritize your bills lead me to believe that she is a lunatic!! She says you should pay your credit cards first so you […] Read more »
Financial Peace University and Me
As some of you know I have been in the process of bringing Financial Peace University to my church. I have met with and introduced the class basics with two groups and last week I received word that it is a go. I didn’t really have any doubt about if it would be accepted but the time I had to wait has been working on my patience. Not because I don’t understand the process, well maybe a little, but mostly because I am very excited about getting the show on the road. I have an unbelievable desire to share what […] Read more »
Sometimes Money ISN’T The Cause Of “Money Fights”!
I thought that this picture was appropriate for my current situation. Recently my wife and I have realized that there are some things we disagree on. Disagreement is normal but a lack of communication can cause a disagreement to become a serious issue. The doors of communication must be open at all times, not just when you are in an argument. It is then that the one time reasonable objection becomes more of an attack move. It is very important to understand that if you disagree with your spouse about something, it is ALWAYS better to voice your opinion. Remember […] Read more »
Are Your Priorities Backwards?
I keep seeing this commercial on T.V. and everytime it drives me just as crazy as the time before! The line that drives me absolutely mad is this one: “Far too many Americans health care and financial security are at risk.” It goes on to say that, “Health Care costs are driving American families into bankruptcy.” AHHHHHHH! That is exactly what is wrong with this country today!! What is driving American families into bankruptcy is American families! It is US that is responsible for these stupid decisions that we make, not health care costs! Sure health care costs may […] Read more »
The Debt Free Scream!
Hello everyone and welcome! I was reflecting on what gives me the most inspiration and encouragement to complete our Total Money Makeover, and I realized that the most emotional feeling derives from people calling in to the Dave Ramsey Show to scream they’re debt free!! Every time I hear a caller scream these 3 very powerful words it makes me imagine being there and what it feels like! Sometimes this means the eyes water up! Imagine with me for a second and think about screaming these three words. “WE’RE DEBT FREEEEEEEEEEE!” Imagine that is you! How do you feel? GREAT […] Read more »
Cause and Effect (picture blog)
CAUSE & EFFECT It’s basically as simple as this. If you don’t have debt and lots of payments, your income becomes a tool for you to plan, give, build wealth, and save! Often people try to get out of a problem by fixing the symptom instead of the problem. If you are struggling financially and you are wondering why, add up all of your debt payments. In most cases the solution will be right in front of you. If you had $1,000 more a month to spend because you didn’t have the car payments, you would […] Read more »
Teenagers and Decisions
Perhaps you are about to graduate High School. What’s next? The decisions you make now will eventually become your reality. The normal path to follow would be to choose a career with favorable pay, right? What college will you go to? What if I said you skipped a step? Maybe you should first consider how you are going to manage your money. If you can’t manage the money that career produces then what’s the point? 70% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck! So basically, 70% of Americans don’t manage their money. In my opinion NOW is the time you need […] Read more »
