Summer potluck cookouts are a favorite activity in our neighborhood. There are two people that are legendary for bringing mouth-watering desserts that everyone looks forward to being the last taste to linger in their mouths as they walk home. But I’ve got a recipe that could change all that and make me the undisputed king of desserts. I’m about to unleash the scrumptiousness of my strawberry cheese pie made with Philadelphia Cream Cheese.

It’s a simple recipe that only requires a few ingredients:

  • 9 inch Graham Cracker Crust
  • 8oz package of Philadelphia Cream Cheese
  • 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1 Can Strawberry Pie Filling

Ingredients to Make the Best Cheese Pie of your Life!

Step 1: Preparing the Crust:

I like a crispier crust, so I followed the instructions on the crust to baste it with egg wash and bake it for 5 minutes. This is optional, and completely up to your own preference.

The Filling:

  • First, mix the powdered sugar and soft cream cheese spread until creamy.
  • Then, beat the whipping cream until it’s light and fluffy.
  • Next, fold the whipping cream into the soft cream cheese spread / sugar mixture.
  • Now, Using a spatula, place the cream filling into the pie crust.

The Topping:

Finally, spoon the pie filling onto the top, and let chill for 2 hours before serving. I used strawberries, but you could use whatever kind of pie filling or fresh fruit you prefer. It’s also delicious with no topping at all!

The Finished Product!

The Cost:

Crust:                                                     $1.50
Philadelphia Cream Cheese:                 $1.69  (price of one of the packages in the 2-pack)
Whipping Cream:                                   $2.18
Pie Filling:                                              $3.42
—————————————————————-
Total:                                                      $8.78

Note: I did not include the price of the powdered sugar as I had it on hand and did not have to purchase any.

Since we’re all about getting the most for our money here at Enemy Of Debt, I wanted to mention that I got the Philadelphia Cream Cheese on sale thanks to an online coupon. You can use the same money saving coupons by following this link, or clicking on the coupon below. #cbias

You will need to install the coupon printer application (it takes just a minute) and your Philadelphia Cream Cheese Coupon will already be in your shopping cart.  It should be mentioned that you have to live within a 5 mile radius of a Walmart to be able to view and use the coupon.

Who Doesn’t Love a Money Saving Coupon?

Comparatively speaking, I called a local restaurant known for making great pies and found that they sell whole cheesecakes for $19.99 – over double the price of my home made desert.  Not to mention it would take me longer to drive to the restaurant and pick up their desert than it would for me to make my own.  Discounting the time it took to preheat my oven for the crust, I made my cheese pie in under fifteen minutes!

YUM!

What do you think, EOD nation, will my dessert be a hit with my neighbors?  Do you have a favorite recipe using cream cheese?

Glad you like it Michelle – quite frankly I don’t like the very “solid” cheesecake that you normally get at restaurants. But this is very creamy. Thanks for checking it out!

  2. Excuse my while I wipe the drool off my face.
