I Love You Like a Blogger Roundup – 2/21

We had a major snow storm hit Minnesota (and surrounding states) yesterday, with a blizzard warning still in effect as I write this.  Ten inches of wet, heavy snow was dumped on us over the last twenty four hours.  It’s not  record breaking, but it is a major storm.  Some surrounding neighborhoods lost power, but thankfully we did not.  It’s times like this that I’m extremely thankful for a home to keep me warm and safe.   As an added positive, being stuck at home gives me time to catch up on my blog post reading, such as my favorite posts below.

You know the drill, get those fists up.

  1. The weather the past 24 hours has been crazy, but as I was shoveling last night I also thought about how blessed I am to have a warm home. Hope you have a great weekend!

CRAZY blizzard, DC….4 days later the roads are still packed with snow and ice. The cold weather just doesn’t allow it to melt. Great weekend otherwise – glad you stayed warm too!

  2. Thanks for the mention!

Travis, you don’t know how many times I sit around thinking how grateful I am for a warm house. We haven’t had a lot of snow this winter, but we have had some bitter cold and lots of wind. There is something so comforting about having a place to keep warm. I try really hard (sometimes unsuccessfully) not to get frustrated when the homeless people are hanging out in the community rec center lobby or at the library. We’re all just trying to stay warm. Here’s to an early spring!

Looking out our living room window, watching the snow swirl around outside with below zero temps it’s hard to imagine how people survived in this kind of climate years ago. I can’t ever remember being more anxious for Spring….come on warmer weather!

  3. Seriously, MORE snow? Ugh. Thanks for the fist pump!

  4. Mackenzie says:

Wow, that is definitely a lot of snow! Have a good weekend, Travis 🙂

    • Travis says:

The first 5-6 inches were super wet and heavy…..but over night the consistency changed as it got colder and it was more light and fluffy the next morning. Thanks for stopping by, Mackenzie, hope you are doing well!

Yes, the winter storms have been nuts. They’ve definitely been a hindrance to me staying in shape

I’m lucky in that I belong to a gym with an indoor track and plenty of things to do……the only challenge is getting there on days like the end of last week. Thanks for reading, Mario!

  6. I guess living in SoCal, I really can’t complain about our weather. I cannot imagine having a blizzard warning. I wouldn’t know what to do! I would probably just curl up in some blankets and hope the lights don’t go out.

Hope you stay warm this weekend.

  7. We are thankful that we have a good snowplow and snowblower. I tried to go out and shovel some of that mess before Rick got home yesterday, and lasted about 20 minutes with that wet, heavy mess. Yuck!! Have a great weekend, Travis. 🙂

That could have been the heaviest snow I’ve ever shoveled, Laurie. That heavy wet snow turned into packed snow and ice on our roads, and it’s still there days later. I saw two road graders and a plow go by in succession today, and they still couldn’t get everything cleared off the road!

  8. I’m always on the lookout for new blogs to read and follow (that’s how I found yours!) so thanks for the recommendations. And yes, bad weather is always a really good excuse to catch up on all our projects!

  9. Catherine says:

Thanks so much Travis! Any weight loss is better than a gain!

  10. Catherine says:

Also dude, you need to change your Bio Mr. Debt-Free!

    • Travis says:

Well, we’re not debt free….but we ARE done with our debt management program, and we now have the means to quickly dispose of the remaining debt at the pace that we choose. That bio could certainly use an updating! LOL.
