I Love You Like A Blogger Roundup – 5/2

I’ve found that one of the best ways to ensure a low spending weekend is to have a list of projects around the house to do.  That could certainly backfire as sometimes there are supplies that need to be purchased to complete those projects.  Here’s my agenda for the weekend:

  • Go through and clean out master bedroom closet
  • Clean carpets
  • Replace broken outdoor outlet
  • Workout like a beast

There will be no cost associated with the first item, and the second two have only minimal costs (shampoo for our carpet cleaner, and an outlet) that won’t add up to more than $20.  The last one is purely for fun, and utilizes our already paid for gym membership.

Productive, fun, and inexpensive weekend….that’s cause enough to get my fist pump going, don’t you think?

  1. I’ve got a wedding to go to this weekend, so I KNOW it’s not gonna be low spending. And I have another one next weekend. I’ll be broke by the time all my friends get married.

  2. Taking the family to the movies, so our entertainment budget is taking a hit.

Hope you enjoyed the movie, Brian…..there are certainly ways to keep the price of a family movie down, though. We always go to a matinee, and we bring along our own popcorn bins so that we can spit a large tub easily (which also gets free refills). 🙂

  3. LOL, you’re so right about those household to-do list things keeping you from spending. We’ve got lots of them to do this weekend, so spending should be little to nothing. 🙂 Have an awesome weekend, Travis!

  4. Thanks for two times the love Travis! I appreciate the support. I will be packing up the house to move this weekend. My wife took a girls weekend, so it will just be me. I think she planned this on purpose!

    • Travis says:

ooooh, conveniently a girl’s weekend on packing weekend, huh???? Good luck on the move, Grayson, if I were closer you know I’d be there to help move some boxes!

  5. I need to get my carpet cleaned! Do you rent a machine? Does that work well? I’m playing in a “fun” volleyball tournament where luckily the fee was covered to enter, but I will be around a lot of food and drink temptation.

    • Travis says:

We used to rent a machine (which does work well), but eventually we just bought our own. It works just as well, and it pays for itself after just a few “rentals.” We like to clean our carpets at least once a year….it’s been a LOOONG winter and they’re in desperate need of cleaning!

  6. Thanks for mentioning Grayson’s post over at Sprout Wealth, we really appreciate it sir! We actually need to have our carpets cleaned. Living with three little ones means they don’t stay clean for long. I think I’m going to try and head to the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting tomorrow and hear Warren talk some, so it should be a fun weekend!

    • Travis says:

I can imagine the carpets take a beating with three little ones…..in our first home we installed almost white carpet in our main living room which was right inside our front door. BAD IDEA! We didn’t make that mistake in our current home, that’s for sure!

  7. Slackerjo says:

I love to clean. Can I come over and help you with the closet?

  8. Thanks for mentioning Laurie’s post, Travis! She did an amazing job, as always! Our weekend is jam-packed too, although sometimes jam-packed isn’t cheap! Have a great weekend. 🙂

    • Travis says:

There’s jam packed with “activities” and then there’s jam packed with “home maintenance”….the latter is definitely the less expensive variety! Hope you had a great weekend!

  9. A & M says:

love your site. my post today is linking to your site and 2 posts. 🙂

    • Travis says:

That’s awesome, A&M – thanks for the links….looking forward to see what else you have up your sleeve and hope you’ll keep stopping by!

Wish I lived close. I could give you a list of projects every weekend, and I’d even pay you to do them! There’s a new ‘side hustle’ for someone…
