When I was a kid, my grandparents lived within ten miles of us, so it was easy for my parents to make the rounds on Mother’s Day. My parents could see their moms, AND show off their grand kids at the same time. Now that I’m an adult, my immediate family is spread out making it sometimes difficult to make it home for Mother’s Day. The good news is Walmart Family Mobile makes it easy to wish our moms a very happy day using unlimited talk text and data/web plans through Walmart Family Mobile.

I picked up a ZTE Zinger smart phone, one of many available for use with Walmart Family Mobile, and a startup kit for a total of just over $50. I took it home, and by following the instructions my phone was active and able to make calls and access the internet in less than 10 minutes.

It couldn’t have been easier.

Through Walmart Family Mobile’s lowest priced unlimited plans, I get unlimited talk, text and data (the first 1GB of data is at 4G LTE speed) for only $29.88 per month for the first line.

Once my phone was active, I was ready to start sharing some recent important events with my Mom.

My son recently started his first part-time job, and thanks to the Zinger’s 2 megapixel camera, I was able to snap a shot of my son leaving for his first day of work. This is a moment in time that I enjoyed sharing with my mom, and will enjoy sharing with my son again when he gets older.

Recently my daughter and her friends figured out on their own how to order pizza. I was at home at the time, and listened their conversation as they worked through the logistics of the pizza place’s online ordering tool. I captured my daughter and her friends with their pizza, a picture that is sure to make a grandmother smile.

My mom has always been intrigued with my love of grilling and smoking meat and loves to hear about my smoker. A few weekends ago I performed some maintenance on my smoker, and took a picture of it. Sharing that picture with her helps he stay in touch with what her son is up to.

Some of us live far away from our moms, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t still share our lives, events, and memories with them. Whether it be a text message, a picture shared through social media, or a simple phone call, Walmart Family Mobile can help us all have a great Mother’s Day!

How do you plan to share your recent events with your Mom this Mother’s Day?

  1. My mom is in the market for a new phone. My need to check this out for her. We will be spending time together for Mother’s day.

  2. My Mom is a little more in-tune with technology (she even texts and Facebooks), but I was just talking recently how much more connected my grandma would be if she had the internet. She has a lot of health problems and can’t get around that easy so we really only see her about once a year (if that). If she had the internet it would be easy to send her photos and quick emails.

I think we underestimate older people’s desire and ability to use technology…if they have the willingness to learn, they can do it -and it helps them keep in touch with the world around them and with family!

  3. I took my mom out to eat for Mother’s day last night. She is going to my sister’s on the actual holiday, so I compromised.
