Tuesday night, my son brought home from work his very first paycheck. It was for the 8.5 hours he was in training, and he received a paper paycheck as his direct deposit hadn’t taken effect yet. When I asked him if he knew what to do with the check, he shook his head, “No.” I explained to him how to endorse a check, and what he would do once he got to the bank. I could see his eyes glaze over, so I asked him if he wanted me to go with him. He said, “Yes.” Looks like a financial field trip is on tap for us!

Aww, what a sweet story. 🙂 You must be so proud of your boy. Thanks for mentioning our post, Travis – we appreciate it! Enjoy your Saturday – it’s going to be a beauty!
I’m definitely proud, Laurie….Vonnie and I stopped in today as he was working – he looked so grown up stocking fruit!
Glad you liked the article, Travis! Turns out that many others enjoyed learning about how to be rich as well! It has been by far my most popular article to day. Thanks again for highlighting it.
SWEET! Glad to hear the article has been a success, Derek!
I remember my first paycheck – it was a great feeling having money and getting it after putting in the work!
I don’t remember my very first paycheck…but I certainly remember my first job. I felt like I had money coming out of my ears – I’d love to feel like that again, Jon!
Yay for first paychecks! Mine was $160 for two weeks work at the Wave Pool. I tithed on it and bought a sweatshirt. Can only imagine if I’d started saving 10% that day…Oh well! My son and I both save now 🙂
Trying to figure out how much we’d have if we started saving right away would be an interesting activity, wouldn’t it Susanne???
