I Love You Like A Blogger Roundup – 2/27

When I changed our medical coverage for 2015 to a high deductible PPO with a Health Savings Account, I wasn’t sure if I had made the right choice.  Yesterday I took Tristan and Tori into the optometrist for eye exams, new glasses for Tori,  contact lenses for Tristan, and a bill of several hundred dollars.  Between my contributions and seed money from my employer we had $1000 in our HSA.  I simply swiped my HSA debit card, and walked away with zero out of pocket expenses. I think that deserves a fist pump, just like the following posts! Posts That […] Read more »

Get Maximum Cash For Your Old Cell Phone Using SellCell!

My wife recently upgraded her Apple iPhone 4S for a shiny new iPhone6. Something that got lost in the shuffle of the excitement of getting a new phone was the amount AT&T gave her for her old phone. A phone that sold for a retail price of nearly $500 when she bought it just three years ago brought her just $40 of trade in value. She certainly could have tried to sell it privately. She could have listed it on Craigslist, or local classified ads and tried to get more for it. Maybe she could have gotten significantly more for […] Read more »

I Love You Like A Blogger Roundup – 2/20

Vonnie and I are hosting a get together for her side of the family tomorrow.  Of course I found it as a fantastic reason to offer to fire up the smoker and make pulled pork.  Not only is it delicious, but it’s an relatively inexpensive way to make a large quantity of great food for a largish gathering.  If you ever find yourself in South Eastern Minnesota, let me know and I’ll throw some wood in the smoker, fire up some home made BBQ sauce and show you what I mean. Fist pump for BBQ! Posts That Make Me Fist […] Read more »

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, and the pressure is OFF.  Well, at least I think it is…..Vonnie and I were talking to some friends about our monthly pot luck get together and we decided to do it on Valentine’s Day.  Vonnie thought spending Vday with friends having a great time was a perfect alternative to the consumerism based holiday it’s become.  But is a trap?  Hmmmm, maybe I better have a backup plan. What are you doing for Valentine’s Day? Posts That Make Me Fist Pump What Does Payday Mean to You? from See Debt Run 3 Golden Rules for Managing […] Read more »

Save Money Effortlessly through Digit. Really? Yes REALLY.

It’s time for me to come clean, and be completely honest with you; I have trouble saving. Almost exactly a year ago, my wife and I made our final payment to our debt management program paying off $109,000 of credit card debt. With that final payment we freed up $2489 in our monthly budget. Having that extra breathing room we immediately did some things to better our overall financial picture such as consolidate some other debts and refinance our mortgage. But even after those changes were complete we still had a sizable amount of extra funds in our monthly budget. […] Read more »

Change Your Perspective, Change Your Life

I’m always the first one of our family to throw back the covers and climb out of bed on weekend mornings. My goal is always to get up, get to the gym, and get home before anyone else even thinks of getting up. One such Saturday morning I was composing a note to leave on the kitchen counter as I was preparing to head out to the gym. My wife likes to know what time I left so she knows approximately when to expect me back home. So, I ripped a piece of paper out of a notebook and wrote […] Read more »

I Love You Like A Blogger Roundup – 1/23

Today is my son’s 16th birthday!  We have him scheduled to take his road test next week, and as you might expect he’s excited about it.  Having a driver’s license will bring him a whole new level of freedom and mobility.  It will also bring with it extra expenses.  Our insurance is going up, and he’ll need to pay for gas if he wants to get around.   As a 16 year old he now has many more options to get his first part-time job.  In addition to filling the gas tank, he has things he wants to buy, including his […] Read more »

Get Your Morning Energy with BelVita Bites and V8 Veggie Blend from Target!

I’m currently training for my 5th marathon, with my goal for this marathon to be my fastest yet. As I prepare to enter the heart of my training for the June race, I need to pay very close attention to what I foods I put into my body and when. I run almost exclusively in the morning and it’s important to get some morning energy burning before I head out into the crisp winter air. I want something light, nutritious, and give me enough fuel to keep my motor running throughout my entire run. Recently I started a #NewBreakfastRoutine […] Read more »
