Enemy of Debt the Super Hero?

PURE AWESOMENESS! Yesterday, Enemy of Debt was introduced to the comic strip world for the first time! Back in February, I sent the creator of the Personal Finance comics an email, suggesting an Enemy of Debt character. Every comic has a villain and since he writes for a credit card site, I thought Enemy of Debt would play the part nicely. He liked the idea, and even took it one step further by asking me to write up a storyline. Having never written anything like that before I was a bit nervous, but I jumped right on it. I submitted […] Read more »

Extreme Circumstances Call For Extreme Measures

Have you ever considered someone to be a little too extreme when it comes to their money? Maybe they were too extreme in saving for their emergency fund, paying off their debt, or just never seemed to do anything fun at all. How’s your financial situation? You might be having fun, but are you prepared for that rainy day that will come? Are you the grasshopper or the ant? When we were paying off our debt we said no to almost everything. Nowadays we are a little more relaxed with how hardcore we are and how much we sacrifice on […] Read more »

I Love You Like A Blogger…”DAMN LAPTOP!!” Edition

Hey everybody, Happy Friday!! First, I would like to explain why EOD feels like a ghost town this week. I have only posted one article, which was on Monday. I have recently had the opportunity to learn just how valuable my laptop really is WAS. Not all of it was because of my laptop though. To start the week off I had an exam to take on Tuesday and I needed to ace it to keep an A for the semester, so needless to say I spent the weekend, all day Monday, and some of Tuesday studying to make sure […] Read more »

Happy Friday!! I am excited to share with you today another debt free story coming from The Lone Star State. That’s right, Austin Texas! I really enjoyed this debt free interview from Deacon Bradley of Bradley Coaching. (Excellent resource!) Having money is nice, building wealth is nice, and even doing some fun stuff along the way is definitely a must, but for me, giving tops the list of reasons to become debt free. Helping others overcome adversity […] Read more »

Becoming Debt Free Is 99% Intensity and 1% Basic Math

Are you trying as hard as you can to be debt free? As many of you know I coordinate and lead Financial Peace University at my church. I’m currently working on the third group of classes, and we just got finished with the very valuable, and highly motivational Dumping Debt lesson. It’s definitely one of my favorite lessons of all time. Dave starts out by giving the history of credit and how it has become such an integrated part of our society in a relatively short amount of time. Thanks to genius marketing, and a changing society with alternative financial […] Read more »

Win a Free iPhone/Android Pay Off Debt App

Hello everyone! In the Manage Your Money challenge that recently ended, I had a sponsor offer up 2 iPhone, and 2 Android Pay Off Debt Apps. However the participants either, had no debt, or had neither of these phones. So today, I would like to give them away to anyone with an iPhone or Android cell phone. I wish we would have had either phone along with this app when we were paying off our debt. The Pay Off Debt App is an application that uses the debt snowball approach to paying down your debt. As you know that is […] Read more »

Manage Your Money Week 4 – GET OUT OF DEBT!

Hello everyone! Welcome to week 4 of the Manage Your Money Challenge! Sorry about the delay for today’s post, but I have been having some serious internet issues and I think even some computer issues as well. EVERYTHING takes FOREVER! My internet will cut off on me in the middle of doing something and I have to wait sometimes for 10 minutes for it to reconnect. Last week was a great challenge and everyone who participated had great responses. Since I didn’t comment myself I thought I would let you know that I first said yes on an impulse purchase, […] Read more »

My Journey to Financial Freedom | Part 2: The Climb

This is a guest post by my “virtual” friend Dena from Evolution You. I have admired her work for some time now, and am happy to be able to share this post with you here on EOD. It is truly inspirational! Be sure to subscribe to Evolution You so you can receive her awesome updates each week. Enjoy! Three years ago, I was nearly $60,000 in debt. I had a Bachelor’s degree that didn’t appear to be worth its weight in salt and a job that couldn’t cover a fraction of my monthly bills. I was terrified. Today, I am […] Read more »

Debt Free News From A Debt Free Reader #7

Hello everyone. Time for another Debt Free Friday!! Today we have with us the author of Debt Free Hispanic. Be sure to check out Fabian’s debt free call to the Dave Ramsey Show. It’s debt free calls like this that kept us motivated throughout our journey. As I’ve mentioned before those calls are why I wanted to start this series. Actually, it’s not the first time I tried putting something like this together. The first time I was a little too optimistic with what probably amounted to 10 or so readers. 😉 It was only my 5th post, but I […] Read more »

EOD SHORT: Episode 1 – Behavior Meets Reality

One of the most common phrases that people use to validate wasting their money is that they “only live once”. Without getting into any theological and philosophical arguments, let’s just assume that statement is true. You only live once, so my question to you would be this. What are you waiting for? What does it mean to live life to the fullest? It’s obviously a relative statement, and would depend on what someone considers to be “living a full life“. What it means to you, could be far from what it means to me. For some people, it means constantly […] Read more »
