5 Consequences of Excessive Debt

Debt is a tough thing to deal with. It gets even harder when the amount of debt becomes too large for you to handle. There are a host of problems that come along with that scenario (the most obvious being bankruptcy). Here are five of the consequences of excessive debt. Can’t Buy a Home Having too much debt can limit what you’re able to do in life. For instance, it can be difficult—if not impossible—to buy a home if you have too much debt. This isn’t just about you not being able to afford a mortgage payment. Most lenders won’t […] Read more »

3 Reasons You Should Review Your Checking Account Regularly

I know people that roll through life, never reconciling their checking account. Many younger people fall into this category, and for the most part it works because they don’t write checks, so the current balance is up to date. Others keep close tabs on their account, verifying every transaction. I fall into the second category because you just never know when you might notice something out of the ordinary. I was looking at my checking account online over the weekend when I noticed a $6.95 charge from an online gaming site. I recognized it something my son had been […] Read more »

Why Online Lenders are the Best

Financial problems are like mushrooms which can, uninvited, emerge anytime, anywhere; until you are crazy rich, which most of us are not. So, most of the time we have to rely on loans to safely get out of bad financial days. A loan can help you here, only if you are not facing a problem of a poor credit score. If you are, then taking a loan can be a serious issue for you. What […] Read more »

Moving Advice for the Smart and Frugal Renter

Moving certainly isn’t on anyone’s list of “Top Ten favorite things to do in your spare time.” Quite the contrary, moving is a hassle, it can be expensive, and it can be stressful for your entire family. But, with a little bit of planning, you can make the entire process easier on everyone (including your wallet). Fist Pump Friday: I Love You Like A Blogger Roundup – 7/19

I’m currently camping with friends and family at a four day music festival but that won’t stop me from sharing my favorite posts of the week, OR saving money! Concerts and festivals usually jack up the price of everything knowing they have you as part of a captive audience (meaning you don’t have a choice as to where you buy your bottle of water – either it’s from them, or you just don’t get it). But even here there are some ways to save money and make every dollar go as far as it can. One such method is buying […] Read more »

Spend More, Save More

My wife wanted to string globe lights around our patio for ambiance for a party we were hosting over the weekend. We found several lights were burnt out, and needed to be replaced. I found replacement bulbs at Walmart, two bulbs for $3. I needed four bulbs, for a total replacement cost of $6. Nearby I found a brand new strand of lights for $10. I gently placed the new strand of lights in my cart and headed for the self-checkout lane. Why would I pay $10 for an entire new strand when I could replace my burnt out bulbs […] Read more »

Pressed for time, I debated stopping at a big box hardware store to pick up deck stain. I planned staining my deck at some point during the weekend, but likely not that day. Being nearby, I pulled into the parking lot, and I’m really glad I did. They were having a 4th of July weekend sale (that ended that day) on deck stain which amounted to 33% off the price of the stain after mail in rebate. Summer Sale Items Great sales can be found on almost any holiday, and summertime holidays are great for finding deals on items needed […] Read more »

Fist Pump Friday: I Love You Like A Blogger Roundup – 7/5

Yesterday was Independence Day – Happy Birthday America!  I didn’t do any of the usual 4th of July stuff. No grilling out, no being outside playing games, and I might have seen one or two fireworks explode out my living room window, but I wasn’t really paying attention.  I did go to the new Spiderman movie with my wife, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, and then hit up some favorite restaurants for a few happy hours. While it wasn’t the traditional 4th of July sort of activities, it was exactly what I wanted to do – spend time with loved ones, enjoying […] Read more »
