Debt-ception – Why Do We Fall For The Lie?

Debt-ception Is Everywhere! The use of debt is rampant and highly irresponsible.  Because we think the good outweighs the bad, we allow ourselves to justify its use.  We tell ourselves that it is okay because it is helping us, ignoring all of the signs of its destruction.  We have replaced good old fashioned savings for the servitude and hardship that debt brings us.  In my opinion we have done this because we have forgotten that no journey worth taking is easy.  We have lost hope in our lives and in ourselves, but I know how to get that back.  Learning […] Read more »

Just Say NO To Debt CONsolidation!

Once a month I may get something from a company that wants to partner with Enemy of Debt in some way. The one I received today was a little different but not really.  She claimed to read a blog of mine, but maybe she needed to read more of them before contacting me.  Her company was nothing more than a debt CONsolidation and negotiation company.  My response was respectful, but to the point. The OFFER: Hi! I was checking out an article called “I Hate Debt, What About You” on your site www.enemyofdebt.com, and was thinking that I have a […] Read more »

Debt – [det] A Financial Storm Cloud

Student Loans Often Overstay Their Welcome Just as many of you, we used student loans.  We had about four total.  We currently have one left and that makes us VERY happy!  We used every last dollar we could squeeze out of our budget, to pay on our debt snowball in March.  We were very blessed and were able to pay off $1,325 which actually paid off one completely.  (See our updated DEBT FREE progress chart.)  I was looking at our current updated balance when I noticed something very amusing.  The scheduled pay off date was not until 10/21/18!!!! 10 YEARS […] Read more »

I Hate Debt, What About You?

When Is America Going To Start Caring? The problem is getting a debt happy culture to realize the danger.  So many take so much for granted!  How do you convince a society that has tricked itself into believing that debt is a good thing, into believing debt is actually the opposite of a good thing?  Look around you people!!  Debt is not a good thing and proof is ALL AROUND you!  Debt is swallowing up America, and no one really seems to be concerned with it.  Oh there are some that claim to be concerned during every election cycle, but […] Read more »

Our Debt Is In Danger!

Watch us become debt free right here! DEBT EVERYWHERE is on the run! I posted a debt free progress chart about 3 months ago.  Here is the current updated chart.  When the green fills up the word “DEBT FREE“, not only will we be free, but so will our green.  FREE to save, give, and invest without restraint.  Last week we were able to pay down our remaining student loan debt by $3500.  That was a huge win for us, and motivated us even more to knock the last little bit out.  $4649 is in the sights, and has […] Read more »

Cheeeeeetaaaaahh!!

Happy New Year! Now it’s 2009, and the holiday season has come to an end.  First let me say that I hope all of you had a terrific Christmas and I hope that your New Year is full of resolutions that will make your life easier in 2009.  I myself have many resolutions, and so far I am off to a great start. It’s also time for people to start coming down from the holiday high and some are likely experiencing something many call buyers remorse.  Usually this happens the day after you make a big purchase.  I think Christmas […] Read more »

Less Than $7,000 Till We Are Debt Free

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day! HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I am so thankful for everything the Lord has given me and my family.  I am thankful for His direction when times got hard.  I am thankful I was shown my purpose to help others become debt free and experience financial peace for themselves. I am very thankful for Dave Ramsey and what he does.  It is because of his plan that we only have less than $7,000 until we are debt free but the house. Thank you Mr. Ramsey, we’ll be calling you soon! I am so very thankful for the wife I […] Read more »

Murphy’s Fall

Murphy’s Fall? I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to something that you have or will possibly go through.  I have coined the term “Murphy’s Fall”.  Murphy’s Fall isn’t the fall of Murphy.  Instead it is something you yourself go through because of Murphy.  That’s right.  It’s what can happen when Murphy has moved in and just doesn’t want to leave.  It could be equivalent to what marathoners call “The Wall”, which is when a marathoner reaches the 20 mile mark and starts to rationalize giving up.  It’s when you start to tell yourself that you have […] Read more »

How Can We Love Our Children More?

That’s How! Our Children Really Are The Future If you have children I can not think of anything as important as teaching them how to manage money at a very early age.  Think about it for a second.  If you would have learned about money at a young age you could have avoided so many of the financial pitfalls that most of us deal with.  I know I would have loved to learn this stuff early on.  It would have kept me from paying extensive amounts of “Stupid Tax”, as Dave Ramsey calls it.  Stupid Tax is money that we […] Read more »

If My Words Were A Hand, They’d Be Slapping Some Sense Into You!

STOP BORROWING MONEY!!! Just to clear things up, the title isn’t to be taken literally. It’s just my way of grabbing your attention and telling you that if you are in debt, you need to hear this!! So LISTEN UP! This is perhaps the most important thing to learn after getting yourself on a budget. Dumping your debt will help you gain traction and in return offer you a hope you have never imagined. The reason is because all of the things most people have their money spent on before they ever get paid, steals their hope. When you accept […] Read more »

Video Of The Week – Brian Tracy

As most of you know I am a big fan of Brian Tracy.  Here’s Brian Tracy talking about wealth, happiness, and balance.  If you don’t have balance then that means there is something that needs attention.  It is up to us to manage our lives like we manage our jobs.  A machine that needs all parts to function in order to work at it’s best is just like our lives.  Everything has to be properly maintained or something will fail.  Failing in one aspect of our lives can often lead to failing in the very thing we wanted to succeed […] Read more »

My Payments Ate My Savings!

America has no use for Piggy Banks anymore! America is in the RED! With a negative savings rate, America is in DESPERATE need of a Total Money Makeover. What will it take? When will people finally understand why saving money is too important to ignore? America needs new priorities, like yesterday! As one of the very many bloggers who blog about money and personal finance, it is my duty to help spread the word. How much do YOU have saved up? What in the world is keeping us from doing what we know we should? Is your savings account overflowing […] Read more »

Where It All Started For Me

**I just wanted to share with everyone my very first blog about becoming debt free! This is where it started. A passion to get out of debt, an intensity to do it now, and a desire to help spread these principles to anyone willing to listen! One night I was inspired to connect my love for Baseball as a child, to becoming debt free as an adult. For those who haven’t read this one, I hope you like it. Please comment.** Hitting A Home Run And Becoming Debt Free Are The Same! 7 out of 10 people live paycheck to […] Read more »
