Race to Freedom Challenge #1 – Sell Your Stuff

Do you want to know what motivated us the most when we decided to become debt free? Forget about the BIGGEST motivation, which was the freedom part of becoming debt free. That alone will not get you out of debt. If it did, way more people would be living the debt free life. It's because the goal is too long term for most people, and we are not motivated by what one, two, or even 10 years might be like. We need to see results and fast! Read more »

Welcoming a New Baby into Our Family

Hello everyone! I hope you’re having a great week so far! 😀 I just wanted to announce something I am very excited about. In fact, it has been hard not to spill the beans before now, although a few of my closest family and friends know. It’s TOUGH keeping a secret like this one! We’re having a baby, due on October 3rd!! We haven’t yet found out the sex of the baby but like any other time, we’ll be happy with whatever we have — boy or girl. My daughter Caitlin is 15, Isaac is almost 5, and Noah is […] Read more »

Enemy of Debt’s 2011 Race to Freedom

Happy Monday everyone!! I apologize for taking so long to update you on the "Reality Series"! I was hoping to do so on Friday of last week but ended up battling a power outage due to high winds. The main delay, however, was in trying to work out possible sponsorship. I didn't want to move forward until I found out where I was and now I know. Unfortunately, I was only able to get one company excited about the prospects of my reality series idea. I would like to thank Perkstreet Financial for believing in my very spontaneous and highly ambitious project. (YOU GUYS ROCK!) Unfortunately, in order for it to work in the long term, I needed to have more sponsors on board. Needless to say, sponsorship was a bust this time around. Read more »

What P90X Can Teach You About Paying Off Debt

Hello everyone and welcome to Enemy of Debt! As most of you know, I recently realized that my actions were not aligned with my goals. This prompted me to fire up the engine room over at Enemy of Fat, but also, to start P90X right now, as opposed to later. My initial goal was to wait until I had lost a few pounds first, then start P90X. It occurred to me that I may have created the prolonged start for P90X because I was scared, AND knew P90X was going to be tough. Although some of my initial decision was […] Read more »

Reach Your Goals by Aligning Your Actions With Those Goals

Last night I was taking a closer look at my goals and I realized something. My top two goals in 2011 are to lose weight and to save approximately $15,000 for our big emergency fund and a “newer” used car. As I was considering what I could do to make sure I do something every day that contributes to my success, I realized something. I have a blog, Enemy of Fat, just kind of hanging out in the enchanted land of blogger abandonment, all the while I’m writing for another blog I started called Inside C’ville. That blog does nothing […] Read more »

Also, for those interested in the reality series, it’s coming along but I’m still waiting to find out about the sponsors. I’ll give you an update as soon as I know something more. 😀 Have a great weekend […] Read more »

Home Ownership – Should You Buy or Should You Rent?

Ahh, the controversial subject of buying versus renting. Many of you know where I stand on this topic, but I wanted to share this article with you submitted by a guest contributor that offers a basic, common sense approach. I think the housing crisis has changed a lot of minds about what it means to own a home, but the important thing is that you make the right decision for you and your family. On one hand, right now is a great time to buy a home, but on the other, it might make more sense to rent until your […] Read more »

Why the Frugal Get Fit: How Fitness Can Help You Save Big

For a week, he was on death’s door in the intensive care unit in the hospital. Doctors worked feverishly to save his life. Miraculously, they did. Bob never regained his full […] Read more »
